Licensing… Oh, My…
Taking A Day Or Two Away From the Novel… I will be back on Monday talking about my regular routine, but for today and tomorrow I don’t want to have to push the book into a small place and time as I have been doing. I want to give it more time. So going to get a ton of workshop and business stuff done first, then focus on the run to the end of the book. But in the mean time, licensing… It has now been suggested that we all wear face masks when going out. Now that “suggestion” from medical folks doesn’t mean we should all go out and…

Licensing Expo Postponed
No Surprise… Now scheduled for August 11-13. Same place, and if you had rooms, you can just kick them back. Licensing Transition Class (that is still open for sign-ups) will be extended into September now, so all of you in that class get a bunch of extra, besides free access to the Licensing 101 class going on now. Got a hunch that licensee’s are going to be hungry by August. I was about to book a couple of appointments with two movie studios, but will now do so for August. Fun stuff. Sign up on Teachable. OTHER THINGS… Kickstarter Best Practices for Fiction Writers is up on Teachable for free.…

Last Day
Master Business Class… This year the focus has been on licensing and I will be adding a lot of information over the next few weeks to the licensing transition class on teachable. It has been fantastic fun! And, of course, I have stayed up far too late every night, enjoying late night deserts and food with friends, not counting standing and sitting around for hours in the hospitality suite, talking everything from covers to licensing to cats (you know writers). But now into the last day. So if I have missed a letter from you or something, I will be clear and back here in just over 24 hours. Just…

Four New Videos in Licensing Transition
Plus the Holiday Spectacular Funded… It officially made two stretch goals on Kickstarter, but we also took money outside of Kickstarter this time because of Kickstarter’s political problems, and we ended up also hitting the third stretch goal in total. A complete success, better than we had hoped. So everyone who supported the Holiday Spectacular will get all three stretch rewards, plus the reward they picked. Surveys going out next week. And don’t worry if you missed out on the nifty idea of getting 35 holiday stories in 35 days, we will have a web page dedicated to that where you can get a subscription to the stories. Or buy…

Shared Worlds
SHARED WORLDS: What Are They, How to Do Them, and Why… This is a one-of-a-kind class. Not a workshop, not a lecture, not a study along. For years now, Kris and I have tried to figure out how to teach shared worlds as a topic to writers to get the most benefit for writers. Both of us have written in so many shared worlds, we couldn’t begin to count. From the major shared worlds of Star Trek and Star Wars, to the more subtle shared worlds of say the WMG Holiday Spectacular that we are running through Kickstarter right now. And everything in between. There are thousands of reasons indie writers…

A Fun Book and More Videos
Pulphouse Kickstarter Hit Second Stretch Goal… That’s right, in just three days. Wow! So everyone who supports the campaign gets a free electronic book. A brand new one that will be out in the summer next year. It’s called Aliens Among Us: At Least In the Pages of Pulphouse Fiction Magazine. And going forward, if we hit more stretch rewards, there are more fun books and workshops and lectures for writers. Check it out at NEW VIDEOS Also, I added five new videos into the Licensing Transition, talking about aspects of how to make certain decisions when it comes to licensing your work. A lot of videos so far in…

Licensing Transition
A One Year Journey… Ever wondered how to get your nifty novel series or book with fun characters from a book to licensees who might want to make it into shirts, wine, movies, games, dolls, and who knows what else? That very question, the transition from IP to license is the subject of a one year course we are doing on Teachable. I just posted the last three videos on the Learn Along Licensing. And that one will go away shortly. But now, starting here on July 1st and running until July 1st, 2020 is Licensing Transition. It is not a workshop or a lecture or a pop-up or anything…

Licensing Learn Along
Three New Videos Tonight… That brings the total now to 48 videos in the Licensing sections and another 40 plus videos in the Magic Bakery Classic Workshop that is included. So almost 90 videos and pictures on Licensing. Takes some time to go through, that’s for sure. All for $200. And I will be closing it for new sign-ups in a week, around the first of the month. All of you signed up, no worries, all the videos will remain. And I will be adding some more new videos this next week or so. So still a week to sign up at Teachable. In October, Kris and I and Loren…

More Learning Than My Poor Brain Can Handle
Day Two of the Licensing Expo… I managed tonight four more videos, long ones, up on the Learn Along Licensing on Teachable. Plus a couple of other things. This Expo, as Kris and I had thought it might be, is a major business changer for us. Kris had warned me since she went there for a few hours last year that this would be major, and she was right. One thing is clear. Publishing is a tiny and really sad little part of licensing at the moment. And really screwed up. Especially traditional publishers. As Kris said at one point, agents are agents. But at least in this world they…

Had Fun Today
First Day of the Licensing Expo… Wow, is that place massive. And I learned a ton. I talked about my day in three videos on the License Learn Along and put up a dozen or so pictures. I will be doing more posting over the next two days and then a bunch for three or four days after as I get rested and the information comes together. Then over the next few weeks I will talk about how Kris and I are digesting the information. You can still sign up on the Licensing Learn Along. What I can also say for sure after today is that the Master Business Class in…
