Catching Up and New Workshop
A BUNCH OF DETAILS… First off, finally finishing the reading on the Messed Up stories for Pulphouse. Got just a few more. I’ve had to limit my screen time for my one eye, but getting back up to speed slowly. So those should be done in the next day or so and out to everyone. Secondly, setting up the June workshops. A couple of those are posted already. The rest to follow. Third, those of you who signed up for Writing Historical Fiction should get a letter from me this weekend with links to the May and June workshops. You can pick the one you would like to take. That…

Last 18 Hours…
5 Writing Bundles Containing 17 Books… Plus you get Kristine Kathryn Rusch’s fantastic Freelancer’s Survival Guide. And two Tip-Of-The-Week lectures with 13 tips in each one. Plus a Futures Workshop and a bundle of six genre classic workshops. That is exactly $1,000 in value in lectures and workshops. Crazy, huh? Over 300 teaching videos combined. And today a number of people asked me, “Why?” Simple, actually. When we all got locked down in March, Kris and I and Allyson were trying to figure out ways we could help writers stay focused, keep learning, and keep writing. But we knew money would be tight for everyone, so we did what we…

The Decade Ahead: Second Quarter
Finally Some Posts In April… It took clear to the end of April before I could figure out how to approach this quarter. I want this Decade Ahead class to help writers for years to come on their Teachable dashboards. Help them get through regular times, regular years for the next decade. But at the same time, it is impossible to talk about how to get through April and May and June in this second quarter of 2020 without dealing with this pandemic. So I decided to do both. I am doing a series of videos that will be valuable in general and next April/May/June. Dealing with the Time of…

Vegas Workshops Postponed
I Had Planned to Write Today… Until all the work Allyson had been doing with the Golden Nugget for the Business Master Class finally got settled and signed. So as of right now, the last Business Master Class is scheduled for… October 11-14, 2021. That’s right, it is pushed back one year from this October and is now held from Monday through Thursday with cheaper room rates. So instead of writing, I spent the afternoon and part of the evening writing letters to everyone signed up, over sixty people. Basically, the workshop is just postponed. If you think you were signed up and didn’t get a letter from me, write…

What Might Happen
I Have Been Waiting to Do Some Videos… The Decade Ahead class (second quarter) started April 1st. I have not put a video in it yet. That class was supposed to be how to help writers get through each month and each quarter to set up for the decade ahead. So I have been thinking about doing some videos in that class on what should have been some of the troubles of April for writers. And what might be again the troubles next April. You know, sort of pretend things will go back to normal next year. Very questionable. And I have also been thinking about doing videos on how…

One of These Days
I’ll Get Back At Card Sharp Silver… I think I might have been a little unrealistic, or as Kris calls it, “ambitious” to think I could spend any real time writing while this short story workshop is going on. I do that at times. So here it is again, 2 am and I am finally done with about 3/4 of the things I needed to do today, not counting wanting to get to writing. But I do see a light at the end of this. Put it this way, I was so darned busy the last week or so, I haven’t had a chance to finish reading Kris’s new Diving…

Back to Work… Not Writing, But Work.
A Very Busy Day… Most of you don’t know that we have a short story workshop happening right at this moment. It was originally supposed to be here, in Vegas, but we saw the writing on the wall almost two months ago and postponed it to a later date, but kept the study along part of it going, since that is all online. And Kris is working some, as much as possible in the format, with those who would have attended in person. So I have been recording lectures, reading stories, and doing a ton of other stuff today. Going on for two more days. Actually great fun and I…

Creative Nonfiction
Doing a Class On Writing Creative Nonfiction… It’s one of the special classes we do that you can only get through the Writing Bundles Kickstarter Campaign. It will never be available in the future anywhere outside of a Kickstarter campaign. Now, considering how much Kris and I write creative nonfiction, I am surprised we never thought of teaching a class on it before. In fact, some of my writing books that are in the Kickstarter Bundles are written in a form of creative nonfiction style. The clearest of that certain style is the Writing a Novel in Five Days While Traveling. But I also wrote an entire book about the…

Card Sharp Silver… Day 17
Not Sure Why I Count Days Like Today. A thousand words in 45 minutes out of an entire day should not name the day. But, alas, that is how this daily blog-report started, so onward I go. Normal time to the computer here at 11 am. Worked on emails for about an hour, then switched over to working on the Kickstarter campaign we are launching later this week. I did that until lunch at 2 pm, then Kris and I sat in our alcove looking out over the empty city and eating and working on the Cats Anthologies, getting the first few ready to go to WMG. (Remember there will…

Card Sharp Silver… Day 16
I Hate Restarting… Five days or so since I wrote anything on this novel, and that makes it kind of rough to get restarted. Annoying is a better term. The day started off as I did a few emails, then around 12:30 headed out into the wilds of empty Las Vegas. A stop at a vegan bakery for deserts for Kris, then a stop at Cinnaholic, another vegan deserts place with cinnamon rolls to die for. Then off to the grocery store. Made it back and got decontaminated by 3:30 pm. A nap, then more email, then a walk with Kris, then dinner and a television show. Back in here…
