Coming Clean
Eye Issue… Since I have mentioned this on a number of workshops and places, figured for a short post I would tell you all here. Many of you know I only have one eye. Back right before I started this streak on this blog, about eleven years ago, I lost almost all the vision in my right eye to a stroke in the back of the eye. I caused it, and I have lived with the one eye ever since. Well, about four weeks ago, I woke up mostly blind. (Now if that doesn’t twist you up, nothing will.) I thought it was just eyestrain, as I have had a…

Rebecca Moesta’s Birthday Dinner
GREAT DINNERS ALL FIVE NIGHTS THIS WEEK! As Kevin said in his Facebook post with this picture: “Rebecca’s birthday dinner with Kris Rusch, Dean Wesley Smith, Todd McCaffrey, Mark Leslie Lefebvre, and the Winner Twins. Much fun (and sushi) was had by all.” I agree completely. Here is the picture so I can get away from this computer for the night and actually get some sleep.

Lots of Learning
Amazing Week of Conversations and Learning.. Pretty exhausted after four days of getting up very early. But wow was it worth it. Major areas I have learned stuff about… Kickstarter… I will be sharing a bunch of this over time as we test some of it out, and also sometime this winter I will be updating the free Kickstarter class with a bunch of new suggestions. I will alert you here and over that class when we get it done. AI in Publishing. So, so many ways AI change indie publishing and our lives over the next five years. Art, audio, and text. Just amazing. I will do updates regularly…

A Magical Evening
GLITTERING LIGHTS AT THE SPEEDWAY… Every year since we moved to Vegas, Kris and I go out and do a 5K (run… mostly walk) for charity. They want everyone dressed in their PJs, and kids and dogs are welcome. Seeing entire families dressed in matching pajamas and having fun is wonderful to watch. This year I am guessing over three thousand people showed up. What makes this so special is that sponsors from all over the city decorate under the grandstands, around the back of the track and back up, about 2 miles of nothing but Christmas lights. And the normal way to see the lights is by car, but…

And there are two spots open in the Fantasy Caper In-Person class. Write me directly if interested or have questions. If you are attending and did not get my letter today,…

Another Fun Day
Saw Alan Cumming’s Show Tonight… Amazingly fun. Do not take children to it. He talked about aging, death, body parts, sex, and love, among other things. Great stories and funny as all get out. Plus the music and songs were stunning. Really tough life living here in Vegas. Plus today I got six miles of exercise, kept my calories to 1,100 calories so far. And burned 2,800 calories of energy. Tomorrow my goal is to empty a storage unit of about 40 boxes of books and move them into a different storage unit. Plus five miles exercise and low calories intake. A bit of business… Those in the January in-person…

SORT OF TOOK A DAY OFF…
Sort of… Did a lot of email this morning, drove to the other side of town and got steps in the Orleans Casino trying to find where to pick up packets for this weekend’s charity run. Wait until you see the pictures Kris takes. This is the lights run through a forest of holiday lights. Every year it sets off our season. Got home right about the time Kris did from the University, and we haded off to the Wynn Buffet for one of the most amazing dinners I have had in a long time. Kris had the chef come and walk her through the entire buffet (it is huge)…

COLLECTION CLASSES 2023
INCLUDES 2021, 2022, AND 2023 CLASSES I am in the process of launching two or three of these a night. So they will be appearing on Teachable as this week and into next week. There are 24 choices of Collection Classes including six new in 2023. Each class is 9 weeks long and you write five stories, do titles and blurbs and covers and publish the collection by the end of the nine weeks. If you turn in all nine assignments (5 are stories) you get credit for a Pop-Up of your choice. The title of the class is the theme of the collection, but no genre restrictions at all.…
