THE 2021 WRITE STUFF STORYBUNDLE…
It Just Went Live…. The following is Kris’s blog that is on Storybundle.com. I read earlier about each book and got done and went “Wow, I want this!” So check out each book in the bundle and for $15 plus a little donation to a great charity, you will want it as well. Here is the blog that Kris wrote for this, copied her in whole cloth. The 2021 Write Stuff Bundle Curated by Kristine Kathryn Rusch When it comes to the publishing business, most writers believe that the only way to make money is to do what the big publishers do. Writers put their books in bookstores and pay…

Thank You For the Kind Wishes…
Kris and I had a fun and perfect-for-us 35-year anniversary today. We both worked on different things until around 2:30 pm, then we headed out to a favorite restaurant near the University we had not been in for 14 months. It had made it through and we split an order of fries and a really yummy vanilla shake (made from Almond milk and almond ice cream). It is heaven being vaccinated and not worrying about sitting in a restaurant after 14 months of staying at home. Wow!! Then we headed to a huge shopping mall on the Strip because, honestly we had never been in it in 3-plus years here…

TWO DAYS LEFT IN WORKSHOP SALE…
Ends on Tuesday Evening… If you want any workshop or class or lecture or subscription on WMG Publishing Teachable at half price, simply put in the code IN-BETWEEN I am going to repeat a blog I did here last week about all the new workshops now available. Plus all the others are still there as well as the lifetime subscriptions. So here is the post about all the new workshops at the moment. There Are A Lot of New Workshops… So figured I would detail out some of them since we just announced the new Half-Price Sale. (See previous post, but the code is IN-BETWEEN.) First off, the regular May…

Exercise Streak Started
May 1st Start… This isn’t actually the start of my moving toward exercise and losing weight. In fact, I have been working on it since February to change eating habits, increase distance, and start the drop in weight. Today finally I feel I can start the daily distance streak. And yes, I know I said back on November 15th when I completed that marathon that I would not do another. Well, with luck, I lied. Maybe another one before my 71st birthday, and a few after as well. This fall I have (and am) signing up for a bunch of 10k weekend charity runs, already signed up for two half…

Regular and Classic Workshops
These Are All Available in the Sale Since yesterday I talked a little about the really fun collections classes, today I thought I would list the regular workshops that are starting in May and June that are available to sign up for in the sale. Both months of classes include the brand new six-week workshop STAGES OF A PUBLISHER. (It is in the Lifetime Subscription for those who have or buy that.) NOTE: The next regular workshop to be launched is called: Fear Based Decision Making. You can not believe how many bad decisions writers make because of fear. Going to be a very important workshop as Kris and I…

Six Collections Classes
All Six Classes Are Available Over the Coming Year… The idea is to not only learn about a topic, but also learn how to put a collection together from five original short stories you wrote on that topic and publish it by the end of the nine-week class. We have six topics and starting on the 4th of May, the Private Eye Collections class starts, as well as the Portals Collection Class. They both run for 9 weeks. But there is a way to take one or all six (if you want to write 30 short stories over a year and end up with six collections for sale). We have…

Colliding Worlds Publishing Today
Six Volume Collection of Kris and My SF Short Stories… The electronic copies went out to the Kickstarter backers who took the full set a month ago, the paper copies have all shipped and are now available for sale as well. Only the signed limited hardbacks are still going through the final shipping steps. Kris and I are both very, very proud of this collection. 60 science fiction short stories each. How much fun is that? And by reading these volumes you can really see the difference in our writing and our approach to the same genre. And we hope be entertained for a very long time. (grin) Here is…

An Obvious Topic…
So Obvious I Never Think to Talk About It… Back up your work. That’s the topic and I have told the story many times of how I wrote a short story per week from January 1st 1982 onward and sold some of those. But I have no copies of any of them except the ones that were published, or in the mail at the time, because in May of 1985 my house burnt down, and since I was working on a typewriter, I lost most of those stories and the two novels I had written. Seeing two novels you wrote as nothing but piles of flaked ash is not something…

Books Don’t Spoil…
I Have Been Saying That For Years… In traditional publishing, books are like bananas that go bad after a short time on the shelves and must be replaced with a fresh banana. But in indie publishing, years can go by before a book finds its true market. The book didn’t spoil in that time frame. Brandon Sanderson got well past a million bucks just doing a Kickstarter campaign for a hardback of a ten year old novel. Thankfully for him, he understood that books don’t spoil. So I fight this stupidity all the time in a lot of ways. And one way I try is by adding reprint stories in…
