Difference In Types of Workshops
I Got That Question… What is the difference in the types of workshops you do ONLINE? On Teachable. Figured it was a good question. So I decided I would just explain all the workshops we do in a quick summary. And wow do we do a lot of workshops. So going from short to long… Lectures… Short, very focused on one tight topic. Takes about 45 minutes to watch. Do at your own pace. Pop-Ups… Takes about an hour and fifteen minutes to watch, on average. Focused on one business or writing topic. Has a short story you can write for it as well. Do at your own pace. Special…

Coming Up With New Stretch Awards
Not An Easy Task… The Spade/Paladin Kickstarter Campaign is about $2,000 away from the top stretch goal we have listed, which includes a Pop-Up class called Automatic Depth. So Kris and I have been working to come up with one or two more stretch goals since there is still nine days left on the campaign. Now not complaining at all. The fact that we are needing to do this is very, very cool. So we will be listing some more books for readers and Pop-Up classes for writers in brand new stretch rewards on Wednesday or Thursday. So if you have any ideas of a Pop-Up you would really love…

Some Pop-Up Descriptions
A Deeper Description… Although some of the Pop-Ups that we are working through on the most recent Kickstarter are fairly clear. Or I thought they were, but I guess I was wrong considering some of the questions I have gotten in the last few days. So over the next week or so I’ll talk a little about what these are about and why we picked them. The first one that every backer of the Kickstarter campaign will get without charge is the Pop-Up How to Make Your Red Herrings Invisible. Now in fiction, a red herring is something you write that is meant to distract from the real plot line…

The Rule of Three
Most Writers Don’t Understand It or Use It… Today, at lunch, Kris and I were talking about a ton of ideas we have for Pop-Up classes we wanted to do for the Spade/Paladin Kickstarter we will launch next week. We like giving writers Pop-Up classes in the stretch goals if the campaign hits a certain amount. And we liked them to sort of match the genre of the campaign, which this time is mystery. We decided and laid out some really good Pop-Ups. For example, a Pop-Up titled HOW TO GET AUTOMATIC DEPTH. Yes, there are ways to do that. Honest. And they are fun and it is perfect size…

Holliday Collection
Holliday Collection Class… Starting on September 7th. In nine weeks, meaning basically the first week of November, you can have a five story collection of original holiday stories for sale around the world. We do collection classes and starting in September is the holiday stories class. You learn about collections and how to write holiday stories and write five original holiday stories, plus do the cover and everything and publish it, all in nine weeks. You got to admit, it would be fun going into the holiday season with a brand new collection of stories out for sale. And if you turn in all nine assignments during the nine weeks…

Fantastic New Craft Special Workshop
How to Make Place a Character… Kris and I are watching a Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez series called ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING. Wow is it funny and twisted, very twisted, and we are only two episodes of ten into it. The really cool thing is that the apartment building in New York is a major character. Kris writes a series of stories and now a novel she calls Spade/Paladin Conundrums. You can see the stories that are available in the series here. She has been writing them for a good decade or more. They are all mysteries set at science fiction conventions. Kris has now finished…
