    Just Be Safe

This Isn’t That Hard, Folks… Just don’t go out unless you need to, wear a mask when you do, wash your hands all the time, and just stay six feet away from everyone. Right now a person is dying from Covid in the States every 35 seconds. And it is going to get much, much worse shortly because of all the people who traveled at the American Thanksgiving holiday and those who just had family and a few friends over, no big deal, right? Sigh… In a few weeks, before Christmas, we will be losing the same number of humans we lost in 911 every day. Kris and I just…

Community To East of Lincoln City

A Heartbreaking Video… This is a video from two guys going up into the Panther Creek area just to the east of Lincoln City.  Completely gone. Hard to imagine, and they only got into a small area of Panther Creek. I sure hope everyone got out of there. Wow. And below the video is an image of Highway 18 (main road in and out of Lincoln City from Portland.)

    Evacuated

WMG Publishing Evacuated Out of Lincoln City, Oregon… Actually, all the employees did. And all of our writer friends also got out safely. But wow, what a mess it was there early this morning. The New WMG Publishing offices are in a level 2 evacuation zone. And all employees homes are in the same zone. Seems last night the fire that started up in the valley going toward Portland grew immensely and came into the north side of Lincoln City. To what extent we don’t yet know. Massive rumors of all sorts of stuff. No writers lived in that area, thankfully, but family of some of the WMG staff do.…

Cold Poker Gang Kickstarter Hit Goal!!!

In Just 24 Hours!! Wow. That is so cool. Thank you, everyone! Going to finally get the entire series into hardback and all supporters will get an early copy to read of BOTTOM PAIR, the new novel. That will be available to early readers from the campaign later this fall and published for everyone later in the winter. Remember, there is a nifty new workshop only available through this campaign called How to Write Mystery Series. A number of people have asked if it will be different from what Kris taught in her in-person (and Study Along) mystery workshop. And different from the now classic Writing Mysteries Workshop and the…

    Shopping and Other Fun

Headed Out Shopping Today... The one big trip out of the week. Walmart for things we need for the new office, then got gas, then on to the grocery store. You know, standard stuff. I had a pull-0ver mask (regular ones don’t seem to want to stay on my ears) and gloves. Yes, I know I really don’t need gloves, but I have them soaked in anti-bacterial spray before I leave the car each time. And besides, gloves keep me from touching my face and constantly adjusting my face mask. Masks were the normal now in both stores. Very few without them. Social distancing was also well done. Had zero…

    Mt. Saint Helens

Forty Years Ago Today… I’m going to repost a blog here that I did one year ago about my time going through the ash of the Mt. Saint Helens’ explosion. Interesting that 40 years later, without all the ash clogging everything, I am going through another “Stay In” order because you might die if you don’t. But unlike 40 years ago when it was just some millions of people downwind that were hit, this one has the entire world locked down. And most people understand this is very real, and a few idiots do not. What was fun about the idiots back in the ash fall of 1980, they got…

    Cave Creek Kickstarter

Only Three Days Left!!! We could use the help passing the word on this to hit the next stretch goal where all backers get another free book, plus a lecture of their choice worth $50. This campaign got caught, as many of us did, in this virus shutdown. But if everyone could pass the word in these last three days, that would be helpful and also get everyone some free books to read fairly quickly while they are stuck at home. So if you haven’t given this campaign a look yet, have no idea what book I am writing in my daily blogs (Cover above), check it out. And remember,…

    Fantastic New StoryBundle

How Many Worlds Can Be Saved? I set off to put this Storybundle called Saving the World together with a goal. I wanted to find as many ways as possible to save the world and as many worlds as possible to save. I figured that would be really fun for me to read and I hoped that a lot of you would feel the same. And what I was lucky enough to end up with is eight novels and two major collections of short stories, all fantastic. And fun. And on top of that, four of the books in this bundle can ONLY be found in this bundle. That’s right,…

    Limited Signed Editions

Of Two Major Books… Back in 1987, Kris and I started Pulphouse Publishing, Inc. And for years, Pulphouse only published limited, signed editions in both cloth and leather. After a few years we branched out some into things like Pulphouse: A Fiction Magazine and Short Story Paperbacks, but even those paperbacks had fifty copy limited and signed leather editions. (Don’t even ask what the limited, signed, leather edition of the George Martin Short Story Paperback is worth these days.) But when we started up WMG Publishing back 2010, we decided to not do limited editions at first. And then as the years went by, we just never got around to…
