I’m In My New Office…
After Working On It All Day… Finally got all four computers and two secondary screens in place, shelves in place, a few boxes of books on the shelves, and this computer running enough to do some email and a prompt. (Sound echoes and lights not right yet, but I’ll get it.) A lot of trips down to our old office condo on the main floor. And since this office is up a flight of stairs here in the condo, I climbed basically 15 flights of stairs carrying boxes and computers. Yup, going to feel that tomorrow. A bunch of time on my back on tile floor putting desks together as…

A Long Move…
Still a ton to do, but we are in the new place!! At the moment I am not, because I didn’t have time to put my new office together, so I am sitting in a mostly empty former business condo (#143), at a large dining room table we will give to a charity at some point, doing this and running through my email. Tomorrow I put my office together. Move started a little after 7 am when Kris and I rounded up the two boys from #907 in two carriers and put them in a bathroom upstairs in #1401. Then I got the little girl into her carrier and we…

Really, Really Tired of Packing Boxes…
But This Was the Last Day… By noon tomorrow the movers will be gone and we will mostly be in our new place. It will take a month to clean up the other two condos and turn in the keys, but there will be no massive amount of things to do. Get some stuff to storage, some things to give away to charities. So tomorrow is the big move. Then we unpack all the boxes we have been packing for a week. And tomorrow is the first day of the craziness with the little girl meeting the two boys, all in a brand new place. I am sure Kris will…

Tired of Packing Boxes…
…And I Got Another Full Day of It Tomorrow… Kris and I both packed a lot of boxes today, and ran a bunch of errands to get cat stuff that we will need Friday morning. We’re putting the two boys together in one big carrier because it’s just easier for us to get them into that. The little girl goes in and out of her carrier all the time when playing, so no issue there. But tonight we me packing and taking shelves off the way, she’s getting worried. He would just pay under something, on the floor, out of the way, watching me. When I sat down here at…

Story Prompts
I Found An Interesting One.. Laying out Issue #50 of Smith’s Monthly this last week, I was going over six short stories written in five days about five years ago. They were stories in the huge book STORIES FROM JULY which I am serializing in six issues of Smith’s Monthly. 31 stories I wrote in 31 days, so not only am I putting in the regular five stories in every issue, but five or six more from STORIES FROM JULY, plus a full novel. A number of the stories from all those years ago I remember. And then there was a Seeder’s Universe story I didn’t remember at all. So…

Quick Post With a Cat
Angel is Doing Laps… She is running from one end of the condo to the other right now, growling and chasing some unseen thing, sliding around corners on the hardwood floors. The two boys in promotion central are not going to know what hit them after Angel and both boys move up to a new condo together later in the week. Could really be fun to watch and I am sure Kris will have some stories in her posts on Facebook. I am just going to post a couple pictures of her tonight because I have some other stuff to do and I need a blog post here to keep…

A Future Member of Promotion Central
Here Name is Angel… When my cat Walter died suddenly about six years ago now, I started on a search for a red-point Birman cat. Or actually any Birman. That’s how we ended up with Cheeps from a rescue. So over the years I have been in more rescue shelters and donated more money to them then I want to remember. And for five years now I have had a computer search out for a Birman anywhere on the West Coast. No luck. Until about three weeks ago I walked into a local shelter and there was a red-point Birman named Angel. They were calling her a Flame Point and…

A Fun Day…
Kris’s Birthday… For four years in a row now, I ordered a birthday cake for Kris that was far, far too big by factors. This year we had to go to a new bakery and I ordered it a week ago, all on my own. A very scary feat. So the lady taking the order asked what size and pointed to what must have been a standard two-layer cake size in a display case, but between all the other massive cakes in there, it looked too small. So I asked for something bigger and she said (something I didn’t understand) and I nodded and I ended up with a cake…

It Was A Day…
We All Have Them… So busy and so much to do, I sort of forget what I was doing at times. Up hours early for me and only glanced at my email before heading out for a meeting in North Las Vegas. Then back into town and my first stop at a bank in 18 months or so because I needed a cashier’s check. (Stupid old custom of business, there.) Then to the south side of town near the Strip for another meeting. Then stopped at a cat rescue operation I support with donations and where I had found the first Burman cat (like Cheeps) in years of looking. She…

Me Talking On Another Podcast…
Every-So-Often I Lose My Mind and Say Yes… I said yes to these guys because they are nice guys and they asked nicely and they look like they are having fun. So, of course, I talked about Heinlein’s Rules and Writing into the Dark and the Magic Bakery. It’s free and might be worth a listen if you are washing the dishes or cleaning out the cat boxes, or driving to the grocery store. I am my typical dogmatic self.
