First Full Day…
Beat Way To Describe It… Ouch! Not taking any opioids, so pain managed by regular stuff, and managed is a little euphemistic to say the least. I am in a big brace that Ron Collins came up, and helped me and Kris figure out how to get me in an out of the brace and a garbage bag over my huge bandage so I could shower. THANK YOU RON!!!!! Excited about how well the new special stretch reward on the Kickstarter is doing. We’re trying to get to 160 backers by Sunday evening. Take a look and please pass the word. Really appreciate that. Thank you, everyone, for all the…

Made it Home…
Long Day… Hunting and pecking to make sure I get my blog done. Kris will update you on her Facebook page. Wearing a massive brace on my right arm so going to take some time to set the keyboards so I can use both hands with the brace. My first surgery in 72 years and first broken bone(s) in 72 years. Nurses and doctors were always shocked when they first looked at my age and asked how I fell and I said running a 5K. Seemed all went well. Kris knows more about that. I am home and alive. I want to thank Chris and Steve York for putting up…

Surgery Report
Kris here: Dean came through the surgery with flying colors. The surgeon said it was textbook and Dean did great. The OR nurse said he did great. The Recovery Room nurse said he did great. I’ve been with a lot of people who’ve gone through surgery and this is the first time I’ve heard a chorus of “great” about a patient. Everyone was worried about the anesthesia since it was his first time, and he did that great as well. He’s awake, in his room, and charming the nurses. With luck, he’ll be discharged tomorrow. Thank you all for the support. We both appreciate it.

Op Tomorrow…
GLAD TO BE ALIVE… Even with this eye-watering pain every time I move. I managed in the split second at high running speed to try to roll into the fall. (old training) So my right shoulder took the impact, shattering it but not my skull. Without that learned training, no telling. In 72 years, first broken bones and tomorrow first operation. I have been charmed. See you on the other side. (hunt and peck one-handed is slow…)

Crashed And Burned…
Hit the concrete…. Short blog. Went on a run this morning. Made it 200 yards at full speed. Tripped on an invisible ledge. (Same one Dave tripped on last year.) I was going so fast that I barely had time to roll before hitting the concrete. Fortunately, I landed on my shoulder and not my head. Surgery later in the week for a broken and dislocated shoulder. All workshops have been postponed one week. If you have questions, contact Kris. Do not email me! I will be learning to do everything with my left hand…

The Problem with a Streak…
It Becomes Very Powerful… And some days, like tonight, I don’t have the time or energy to do a decent blog on this daily eleven years and counting blog streak. But to maintain the streak, I have to write something. What a pain. Tomorrow I have to be up at 7 am (basically the very middle of my normal night) to go do a charity run. They are fun and Kris and I have a tradition that afterwards, depending on the area of the valley the run is held, we go to one of two diners for breakfast. Tomorrow the run is to the north and west of town, so…

A Look Back… Twice
I Put Part of This Up On a Blog in 2013… Ten years ago. But tonight I was also thinking about the decade ahead class that is in its last ten weeks (you can sign up for it and go through it at any time, just ten more weeks of new stuff but all weekly videos are all still there.) Ten years ago I put this blog up about a time in my life fifty years ago. I am a lot of decades ahead from 1973, thats for sure… There is also a brand new five-story driving range opening up within a mile walk of our place, so I am…
