    Two Days Left

Two Days Left! The  only has two days left. And as I did this and posted it, we hit $20,000 and our fourth stretch goal. Wow, just wow!! What is in the subscription drive? Discounted subscriptions, of course, on Fiction River and Fiction River Presents. Both electronic and paper. And for the first time we are even offering lifetime subscriptions. We are also offering a package of writing books. And discounted lectures and discounted online workshops. That seems to be very popular, getting workshops at a discount. I have just put up a curriculum for the workshops to help writers focus on what to take first and so on, since so many have…

What Was I Thinking? Night One

What Was I Thinking? Adding in a new feature that will happen every few days for the next two months. This is me, just yacking from my home office about the running challenge that has just hit the next stage. I have two months until the marathon. So I have today ramped up to seven miles a day of distance and adding in the running slowly. I did just under two miles of actually running in that seven miles. As you might imagine, this will take some of my focus over the next few months. That’s why this new video series. So as of today, here are the statistics as…

    Star Fall Is Out

Star Fall Is Out. That’s right. Remember the novel I finished about two weeks ago? Star Fall: A Seeders Universe Novel? Remember, I wanted to write it in seven days and failed to ten days? (grin) That book is now available as I promised it would be. The official publication date isn’t until November, but at the moment it is available in a fantastic bundle called The Extreme Science Fiction Bundle.  Also notice that in this bundle there is a fantastic Retrieval Artist novel called Extremes by Kris. And also an amazing volume of Fiction River: Risk Takers. I edited that and it is a fantastic example of a Fiction River volume.…

    New Book Cover

New Book Cover I had every intention of starting a new novel tonight, but alas it didn’t happened. But Allyson got a wonderful new cover for the book done since we are rebranding all of the “Star” novels in the Seeders Universe. Star Rain, Star Mist, and Star Fall. I know what the Starburst program is, since I set it up in Star Fall, but no idea what the book is going to be about other than galaxy spanning stuff. (grin) But didn’t get started tonight. Just dinged around on too many other things, plus workshop stuff. Ahh, well, maybe tomorrow. ——————– New Workshop and New Schedule October workshops all have…

    A Regular Sunday

A Regular Sunday Writers meeting with just a few writers today until after four, then I headed out for a walk with a half mile of running in the middle, then back to the office to work on workshop stuff until time to go home at 7:30 to nap and then cook dinner. Spent the evening on workshops and other things, then watched a bunch of television. Slowly feeling more rested. ——————– New Workshop and New Schedule As I said last night, a number of people have used the reward for supporting the Fiction River Kickstarter drive to buy workshops from November forward, so I wanted to get more choices up. So now…

    New Workshop: Point of View

POINT OF VIEW Understanding every detail about how to use a character point of view. Most writers will think, “I don’t need this. I know Point of View. It’s not hard.” And yet most of those writers still work under their old beliefs and learning they got from non-writers like English teachers.  The truth simply put: Most fiction writers know little or nothing about the power of viewpoint. As with the Speed workshop, this area Kris and I have avoided for two reasons. First, we don’t believe many will sign up for it, believing writers think they know it all about viewpoint. Second, this is such an advanced technique area, it…

    More Running but No Writing

More Running but No Writing Again today I spent most of my writing time working on workshop stuff. But in the middle of the day, Kris and I went out for a run. (She did all the running, actually) but I went along for a long walk (6 miles today) and one mile of that I also ran. I managed to run three quarter-mile legs with walking between, then three 1/8th mile legs with walking between. So today six miles total, one mile of which was running. I’ll take it because it felt like I can do this for the very first time. New Workshop and New Schedule Since a number…

    Working On Workshops

Working On Workshops Didn’t do much today except spend a bunch of time working on online workshops. I want to have the January and February online workshop schedule announced for those taking the workshop option in the Kickstarter subscription drive for Fiction River. (Option for one workshop or three workshops starting from November forward.) And also we are going to be adding in one more new workshop this fall, in October, the last one for the fall. Basically, the new workshops will be called Point of View and will be how to use them correctly, when, and how to use viewpoints to your best advantage, and so much more. Viewpoint is…
