It’s Saturday
It’s Saturday! THE DAY IN GENERAL As I said above. It’s Saturday. So not much to put here. I did a lot today. I’ll explain in a couple of days why. I finished the 1,700 last chapter of the Writing Sales Copy book. And got it turned in. I did a bunch of other stuff. But that’s good enough for now. 1,700 words of nonfiction. No fiction. – TOPIC OF THE NIGHT: The Nine Chapters The nine chapters of How to Write Fiction Sales Copy will remain here for free on the blog until the book comes out. Then I will take them down. Not at all sure when the book will…

Some Great Posts
Some Great Posts On the site Women in Science Fiction, Kris is hosting and doing some great stuff, as well as having guest blogs there. Vonda N. McIntyre has the most recent guest blog there. The one before that was Judith Tarr. Worth reading and following that site, folks. And, of course, before it is gone, get the story bundle pictured above. Stunning amount of great reading for $15.00. http://storybundle.com/scifi The web site with the blogs and Kris’s writing on the topic is at: http://www.womeninsciencefiction.com/ THE DAY IN GENERAL Mostly all day I worked on workshop stuff. Then home for a short nap, dinner and news. I got in here…

Meetings and Naps and a Fantastic Post on Publishing
A Day of Meetings and Naps First Even the meetings were fun and I don’t remember the naps. – THE DAY IN GENERAL Managed to roll out of the house around 1:30 p.m. and hit the snail mail on the way to the first meeting. Up to WMG Publishing offices then to talk with two other professional fiction writers, plus Kris came through to work in her office there and Allyson was in and around. Sometimes that office is very quiet, sometimes it is a crazy place. And fun. Today was a fun day. Great conversations. I worked on formatting Smith’s Monthly from 5 p.m. until a couple other writer friends…

Both Books Moving Forward
Writing Two Books at Once Yeah, kind of weird when you think about it. But working on a novel and working on the How to Write Fiction Sales Copy. I have 19 of the 32 blurbs written in six chapters so far. The novel, well that’s going a little slower. – THE DAY IN GENERAL Managed to roll out of the house around 3 p.m. and did some standard running around I tend to do most days. First snail mail, then to WMG Publishing, then bank, then out to the WMG Publishing store and then back to WMG offices. I got back there around 5 p.m. and worked on formatting…

Nifty New Covers
Nifty New Covers for My Seeders Universe Novels WMG Publishing, with Allyson doing the fantastic covers, rebranded my space opera Seeders Universe series. I will talk about them below. – THE DAY IN GENERAL Two more raccoons were hauled off the hilltop this morning. And they only put back one cage and it has yet another raccoon in it tonight. This must have been a major offramp on a raccoon freeway. After waving bye to the raccoons, I headed to the office to work there on some projects. Then Kris and I headed to have lunch, then back to the office to work some more. But I also bought two large…

Busy Monday (Normal)
Busy Monday (Normal) Mondays are always nuts. Plain and simple. And today was no different. – THE DAY IN GENERAL I managed to say goodbye to the caged raccoon I had been feeding all weekend to keep alive so it could be hauled away. Then off to walk with another professional writer and talk about a session or two he and I will be doing at the Master Class in October. Great discussion while we got exercise walking in circles around a mall parking lot. Usually we walk around the mall, but it’s crazy tourist season here and the mall if full of herds. Then I went off to the…

Title Problems
Title Problems For two years I had a simple title at the top of all these daily blogs. I just had to change a number every day. Got old after two years so decided to title each day. Yeah, that’s working. But it seemed like such a good idea at the time on August 1st. – THE DAY IN GENERAL The day was the day. But I can say it was full of workshop stuff. Today, tomorrow, and Tuesday are cross-over days, when I have homework from the last of the July workshop and the first week of the August workshops. Three days every few months are busy like this,…

Writing in Public Summary
Writing in Public: A Summary So Far In the Life of a Professional Fiction Writer Here is a summary of this crazy project through 16 months. (Plan for December in the last day of November post below.) I have just taken the major areas and put the totals. November of this year I decided to finally stop talking about it and take my fiction writing up another level. So it was the best month so far and I have a hunch that given time, you will be able to look back clearly on where this decision was made. The fun of tracking stuff like this. Also I have written 17 novels…

Year End Summary of Writing in Public: Year One
Year End Summary of this Writing in Public challenge. Not even sure where to begin this summary to be honest. I’ve post all the different categories I count and monthly and yearly totals below, but those numbers only tell a part of the story. But let me start with the numbers first and go from there. I did (not counting comments on web sites) 1,281,675 original words in the last twelve months. 745,175 words of that was original fiction. 51,700 words of that was nonfiction. (So just under 800,000 words of fiction and nonfiction combined. More than I thought, actually.) That ended up being twelve novels and over thirty short stories…

Writing in Public: Summary of Month 12
Month #12 Summary of this Writing in Public challenge. July 2014 I will do a year-end summary after this. So check that out. This post is only about July. Once again, as with last month, this was a pretty solid month, all things considered. Smith’s Monthly is going right along. #10 is done and will be shipping to subscribers as soon as the fine folks at WMG Publishing get back next week. And #11 will be back from the proofreader this week as well and will be out by the end of August. I finished two novels this month, including Avalanche Creek, the 12th novel of the year. So that felt great. As I…
