Time Travel, Romance, and Licensing
All Kinds of Fun Stuff… Tomorrow I will put up some more videos and some flyers and stuff on the Learn Along Licensing event. Got some nifty stuff and the event is still six days away. Remember, it will be in three parts. Part one is this preparation phase, then the Expo phase, then the results and discussion phase. That third phase might be getting new videos for months afterwards. Still lots of room to jump into the fun. Once signed up, it will always be available for you to go back and review and ask me questions. But I will shut it off for new signups a short time…

How We Learn
Observations About The Learn Along… After my post last night, I got some comments and a bunch of letters that helped me put into perspective what was happening. Thank you, everyone. To me and Kris, we would have killed to be in something like this to learn licensing cheaply when we started out. But why was our attitude so different than so many now? Is it because we understood the value of licenses and others did not? Maybe. Or that this area was just too scary? Maybe. But then the answer dawned on me why we would have jumped at this when young writers and so many were not. University…

Not Many Writers Want To Make Money
On Their Writing… I just put up four more videos on the Learn Along with Dean in the preparation section. And you get an entire Classic Workshop to learn from as well. (Magic Bakery code is there.) And it isn’t even as expensive as a regular workshop, even though there will be a workshop’s amount of information if not more. Practical information. But very few have signed up. And to be honest, I was surprised at how few have signed up. For me, making money with my writing is such a no-brainer, I want to soak up and learn as many ways as possible how to do it. And I…

Very Weird Movie
Destination Wedding… Starring Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves. The only two people that talk during the entire movie, a running discussion. Kris and I decided to stay home tonight and watch a movie and that one popped up and looked interesting and wow was it strange. I doubt it cost much to make and I doubt it even made its money back, and I bet anything critics hated it, but the writer and director Victor Levin clearly had some fun. If there was such a thing as a Pulphouse movie, Destination Wedding would be it. It is not a normal romantic comedy. It’s not a normal anything, actually. I loved…

Some Really Fun Photos
Yup, Friday Night… And since I have a blog streak to continue, I figured some fun photos of things from this last week. First off, a great photo of Kris and Kevin J. Anderson. They met in a college writing program and have been best friends ever since. Kevin and Rebecca were in town visiting family and we got to spend a few hours with them. (Yes, that was a hell of a creative writing class. From what I understand, they both had more things published when they took the class than the instructor.) Second, a photo of me, Kris, and Sean Optimist-Prime Young. We had lunch on Sunday. Great…

I Jumped The Gun
I Posted the First Video on the Learn Along… I wasn’t going to until the 28th, but felt I needed to get videos going up there. And besides, I ran into a bunch of licenses this evening most will have never given much thought to and wanted to start getting everyone who is signed up prepared. Get everyone looking around at all the licenses around them, just as I am doing. So I started early and put up a first video tonight for the Learn Along with me for the 2019 Licensing Expo. And I gave everyone taking this free access to the Magic Bakery Classic Workshop. Why, because even…

Learn Along With Dean
Learn Along with Dean in the 2019 Licensing Expo… This is a one-of-a-kind thing. Not a workshop, not a lecture, not a study along. Here is the introduction video and then below the explanation of this crazy idea. For almost two months before the 2019 Licensing Expo, Kristine Kathryn Rusch and I have been preparing to attend. Kris walked part of the floor last year with a friend and realized at once that we (and WMG Publishing) needed to attend in full learning mode this year. So we have been getting ready. (You can’t believe how much we have done in the last month or so.) In fact, just today, as…

Want to Work With Me?
Four Main Ways… To work with me on your writing and publishing business. The most intense and regular way is to have me be your mentor for a year. There is one spot still open in that. I announced that spot three or four months ago and forgot to mention it didn’t fill. Basically, as a mentor I am here for you when you need a question answered, to be talked off a ledge, or to proof your sales copy. I read anything you want me to read and I also have each person check in with me on Sunday to tell me what they have been doing or not…

Just a Day
A Couple People Asked… Since I used to detail out my days a lot here, and at some point in the future, I might do it again for a special project or something, and a few people have asked why I don’t do that now, I’ll show you today, a fairly normal day at the moment. Managed to be up and moving around 10 am, did some email and business until around noon, then wrote about 1,500 words in two short sessions. (Working on a new Cold Poker Gang novel called Ring Game. The one I just finished will be to the challenge followers in a week or so.) Kris…

Almost to Another Stretch Goal
The Diving Universe Kickstarter Going Fantastic… Kris has a new Diving novel coming out this fall. It is huge, meaning 260,000 words. And she wanted to get it to her fans ahead of time, so she is doing a Kickstarter project. The name of the novel is THE RENEGAT. If you back the campaign at any level, you will get a copy of the book early, months before it comes out regularly. Also, Kris did two really cool special books for this Kickstarter. She took all her deleted sections and pieces from both THE RENEGAT and other Diving novels, did some essays, and put them together. It takes up two…
