Series Workshop and Study Along Workshop Starting

Writers Here In Vegas… Fun dinner tonight with some of the writers here for the workshop, and also Loren Coleman is in town for a conference, so we had lunch with him. All kinds of fun today. (I bored the writers tonight with my being homeless in Vegas story back in the early 1970s.) The Series Workshop, which was moved from last July in Lincoln City to now here in Las Vegas starts at the Golden Nugget in the morning. Kris is teaching that and it is an intense craft and writing workshop. I think it’s going to be great fun. That means the online Study Along workshop starts in…

    Fun Stretch Goal

Since The Original Goal Got Hit… I figured it was time to get a really cool stretch goal posted. This stretch goal has something for the readers and something for the writers. So if this campaign hits $9,000, I will give everyone who pledged at any level an electronic copy of my large collection Stories from July. It contains 32 short stories plus all the blogs I wrote about writing them. And also, on top of that, each person pledging to this campaign will get a credit for a Classic Workshop of their choice worth $150. (If you are a lifetime workshop subscriber, you can take the equivalent in lectures…

    A Crazy First Five Days

Workshop and Mentor Stuff… It has been a wild and crazy five days for me, both in ramping up the writing and exercise, but mostly in the WMG Publishing side of work. You know, first of the year business stuff. Longest five days I have had in a long, long time. But now things are smoothing out. And tomorrow I even turn in two book projects to WMG Publishing. One on time, one ahead of time. (They might faint.) So to get some rest and make tomorrow my best fiction writing day in a long time, I am just going to give you the information I gave out earlier in…

    5 Days Left

Year Is Flashing to a Finish… I have about seven million things I want to do this week, which I feel is normal for this time of the year. Web site issues (now solved) and some other fun cost me most of the day today. But I wanted to make sure everyone knew about the second workshop in the Futures Series is starting on January 2nd. This one is called Opportunity: How to See and Evaluate Opportunities. Basically Create and Take Advantage of Opportunities. Two tag lines that fit the same workshop. The first Futures workshop is still available and you can take it at any point and turn in…

Spent My Night Trying to Get Writers to Follow Instructions

A Stupid Task I Must Admit… But critical for the anthology workshop to even begin to work. I am not sure what makes writers so incapable of following basic guidelines. Ah, well, this first week is over, so from here on out I can just bounce or ignore a story if the writer doesn’t get the instructions right. Much easier on me. I just wish I had the hours I lost tonight back. And on other news, the Pop-Up on Short Romance is now live. It has a short story assignment with it, as do the other Pop-Ups. However, the first Pop-Up is now gone and can only be accessed…
