AI Art and Audio…
Topic of a Lot of Discussions Among Writers… Lots and lots of early adaptors in the indie writing world are trying AI. For audio, the technology is jumping ahead at full speed and the prices are slowly coming down. For nonfiction, I like the idea and think the quality and technology is almost there now. For fiction, I personally am still on hold until the AI can use my voice and other issues are fixed. But I do know a lot of writers who are trying books with audio. Still too expensive in my opinion, but it does save time. Also limits markets at the moment. The AI art for…

NOTICE!!! My Old E-Mail is Toast
Can’t Get It Working… So if you have been sending me things to dean@deanwesleysmith e-mail address, I have not seen them and have no idea where they are going. Not one clue. It seemed to be killed when we took this site to a new host. So please send them again to my workshop address, which is under the contact me tag above if you don’t know it. Sorry about that. I have spent far, far to much time trying to get that old address working. So I am tossing in the towel.

Email Issues
GMail is My Account… If anyone is expecting me to respond to an email sent to the dean@deanwesleysmith.com address, send it to my gmail email address, which I have been using now for years. The .com email, with the move to this site’s new home, seems to have finally given up the ghost. And it was bad and spotty before. I will try to return it next week to a functioning status, but please don’t use it. Thanks!!

Might Be A Few Minutes of This Site Being Down…
Tuesday Morning and some through the day… Yes, the site is moving to a new host after that last stupidity. Everything is already moved as I type this, but tomorrow morning all the direction stuff will be switching over. Site this place might experience a little downtime, but should be short. And for a short time it will read “Not secure” as things switch over, but it is and will read secure in short order. After that I will spend a number of days cleaning up stuff that has desperately needed to be cleaned up for a few years now. Other than the slight breaks, and the “not secure” for…

Sitting and Laughing….
Just Couldn’t Stop Laughing… I got sent this newsletter that I tend to read every month. It is from a major traditional published person, a former editor and so on, who has her head so far up the ass of traditional publishing, I have no idea how she sees anything clearly. And she often does not. She pretends to pay attention to indie publishing, then does a sad and so uninformed piece of Pay-to-Publish, I got disgusted. But that is not what made me sit and just laugh and have a hard time stopping this afternoon. She did an article about how the AALA (American Association of Literary Agents) revised…

Another Short One
Too Much Computer Time Today… My eyes are starting to blur. So since I leave this blog to the very last, it will be short tonight. Challenge is going along fine, but so stupidly busy I haven’t had a chance to put any more on Patreon. I will in a few days. Things are about to clear. Or I hope they do since I have only limited amount of screen time and have been maxing that out all week. And not exercising enough and eating too much. All bad things that will change shortly. Like tonight, I worked on a story for an invite anthology, knew I would not finish…

Short Post… One Last Bit of Moving
Finally Clearing Our Old Condo… We left some boxes, some clothes, some misc stuff in our old condo because we were not clearing out until December 1st officially. So it was sort of a storage unit, but 95% cleared out. So today I tossed away my old internet computer chair (actually gave it to the security folks here in the building for their office) and brought up a chair I had stored in the old condo. Got the last 14 boxes of the books upstairs two days ago, and last week I got a second storage unit right next to our main one. I will be moving stuff from the…

Great Time at Writers of the Future
Home Saturday… I had a really fun week spending time with old friends and meeting a lot of young new writers. They all seemed very dedicated and very young and talented, which honestly makes me feel very positive for the future of writing in science fiction and fantasy. The event went off without a hitch, the food was amazing, and the gathering after I got out of my tux around the pool was a ton of fun. So if you are not submitting stories to this contest every quarter, you are missing the best thing you can do for your writing career. I was amazed at what some of these…

Having Fun In Hollywood
Writer’s of the Future Event is great fun so far. Talking with a lot of old friends, enjoying talking with the younger professionals who want to talk with me. Today did a podcast that I will let you know when it airs, and Todd McCaffery and I tag-teamed a presentation on 2021 publishing business. Signed a zillion books at a table full of great friends and writers. Dave Farland, Tim Powers, Larry Niven, Nina Kiriki Hoffman, Jody Lynn Nye, Nancy Kress, Rebecca Moesta, Kevin Anderson, and others. Fun. Great meals including a lunch with John, the publisher of all this. And drinks tonight sitting between Kevin Anderson and Nancy Kress.…

Friday Night…
I Spent All Day At This Computer… And I have a blog streak that I have to maintain, no desire to be here after 12 hours here. I hope you are out enjoying some fun on a Friday night. I am going to finish this and go get a bowl of Cheetos (yes, I know, don’t judge me since it is Friday night and I am not out drinking) and sit and watch a bad hour of television and then pass out from a long day at a computer and too much fake cheese. However, I did start and finish, including doing a full wrap cover, a brand new holiday…
