    Going To Classic…

New Workshops Planned For Next Year… So we have to make room in the regular workshop schedule. So here is how it will go. All nine are available starting tomorrow and Wednesday. That will be the last time for two classes… Depth in Action Plotting with Depth Both will go to classic workshops the first of November. Then the first of December the following workshops will go to Classic… Magic Bakery Applied Depth So if you want those two to be regular workshops with assignments, you need to take them either in October or November. That will leave the five core regular workshops in place going into the new year…

    First Run of the Year…

Yes, Kris Beat Me… I got up over five hours ahead of when I normally get up, so that was fun (not). But this year the temperature was perfect. And we were joined by Ron and Lisa Collins and Bridget Collins. And I did more running than I expected to do after my failed summer of getting in shape. I managed about a quarter of a mile straight running, then ran a block and walked a block. I got a distance ahead of Kris, but she caught me just after the two mile mark. I ran another block and got back ahead of her, then she caught me for good…

    First Run In 7 Hours…

The First 5K Run of the Season… So I will be getting up five hours ahead of my normal time. Talk about jet lag. Yikes. This run, the Vegas Strong 5K, starts down on Fremont Street,  goes up and down Las Vegas Blvd in the downtown area. A couple thousand people run it in honor of the horrid shooting here on October 1st 6 years ago. This is the run I was aiming at starting back in June. I watched my calories and tried to increase milage, all without success. I lost no weight at all and I am not in good shape because of foot injuries and just flat…

    New Halloween Story Bundle

This Just Launched!!! And this new bundle is a great one, curated by Kris. And with great writers in it. I would grab this one quick at Storybundle.com. Here is Kris’s full blog she wrote about it, explaining the books and writers in it. THE HALLOWEEN BUNDLE Curated by Kristine Kathryn Rusch I love Halloween. I like it much more than the winter holidays, including Christmas and New Year’s, even though I edit annual winter holiday projects. If I’m going to buy holiday merchandise, I’ll get Halloween merchandise. I love a good Halloween short story too. Because scary stuff is fun. Unless it’s real life scary stuff. The people of…

    Write Only For Yourself…

Something I Teach All The Time… The great artist Bob Eggleton put up a post on Facebook tonight. A quote from Andre Malraux the French novelist (among other things he did.). Malraux said, “An artist discovers his genius the day he dares not to please.” I am constantly talking with young writers who are doing a number of things that I try to convince them are not critical. And often deadly. 1… Writing to market. (What is supposedly hot in sales, what you have already done, what others tell you to write.) 2… Write for beta readers or first readers or workshops. Just pretty silly when you stop and think…

    The Everything Lifetime Subscription…

A Ton of Classes and Workshops… I got answering a question about what exactly was in the Everything Lifetime Subscription and ended up stunning myself as I wrote it all out. All of this is on WMG Teachable and half price this week. Wow, over the years as Kris and I worked to entertain ourselves, keep learning, and at the same time teach what we wish someone had told us, this offering of classes got very large. And seemingly getting bigger as we go. Well over 300 classes and workshops of different types and just about every topic of fiction writing and the business of fiction writing. So let me…

    Quick Post On AI Lawsuit

Has To Be Quick Since Aces Game Early Tomorrow… For those of you who do not watch any news at all, this last week most of the remaining bestselling traditional writers and the Author’s Guild filed a lawsuit to stop the theft of their work by ChapGPT. I am not a lawyer, but reading the complaint is very clear and powerful. Lots and lots of artists are already filing suits against AI art companies. And this big suit by old bestsellers is just a part of the massive wave of lawsuits for copyright infringement that have already been filed and will be filed. Simply put… AI in art and in…
