Half Marathon 13.2 Miles In the Books…

I Was Feeling Great at the 10K Turn… And since I was signed up for the half marathon, off I went. And if it had only been 13.2 miles, I would have been fine. But nope. Today I did exactly 20 miles. It took me three miles to get where I was meeting Kris and the others for pizza. Three miles of climbing stairs to get to sky bridges and wondering lost in casinos. And then another mile to the car from the restaurant, and two miles from where we parked the car to the starting area. Twenty miles. To say my feet are sore would be an understatement. But…

    5K All Finished…

And I Feel Great… Even though a bunch of pounds heavier than before my fall, I seem to be in much better shape. Today was actually five miles because a mile to the start and a mile home from the finish. Just a tad over 5 miles. About 4,500 runners for the 5K today and tomorrow there will be close to 30,000 on the Strip doing the 10K and half marathon. Today went really smooth. I did just under a twenty minute mile (great for walking) and I think there were about 40 or so guys my age out there and I finished toward the end of that bunch. (Most…

    Story Challenge…

Story #21 for February… Story #52 in a row for the challenge. Scary I did a year’s worth of weekly stories between January 1st and February 21st. (grin) Onward I go. Fun Writer’s Direct webinar today on the WMG Writer Store on publishing paper and so on. Great fun. And we are doing a third session of Writer’s Block. You can still get the first two sessions and watch the recorded webinars and jump in for the last part of the second nine week session and the third nine week session. I think it is worth while. The podcast I did the other day is now live.  Watch it at……

    Story Challenge…

Still Going Fine… Yesterday it was a Thunder Mountain story (Time travel historical) called “The Summer House” and tonight it was a Mary Joe Assassin story (crime/fantasy) titled “An Eye for Death.” I see no signs of slowing down and have managed to keep the first 20 stories in February as short stories. Yay… EXERCISE… This weekend is the Rock ‘n Roll Race Series here in Vegas. A bunch of us went to pick up our race bibs and such at the expo. I am going to do the 5K on Saturday and attempt the half marathon on Sunday. I am still 20 pounds overweight from my fall a year…

Since I Am Now Writing At Pulp Speeds Again…

Just For Fun… I wanted to bring this Pulp Speed post back again just for fun for me to read again as I am firing along now for almost two months at Pulp Speeds. I figured I could use it again as well. (grin) (And yes, tomorrow I will list the story I wrote today and the one I will write tomorrow… Challenge still going fine.) (I wrote this post around 2014, then brought it forward to 2016, then 2017, and just about every year or so since, skipping 2022. Last time here was October. And this month March… I made the Pulp Speed class a regular workshop again so…

    Writing, Workshops, Podcast… Oh, My…

Busy and Fun Day… I seldom do podcasts and things like that, but it sounded like fun and it was and I will tell you when it releases. One main reason I don’t do them is that Kris and my offices are within ear-shot of each other, so I would disturb her writing. But today she planned on getting her writing done early and spending the afternoon down in the WMG office, so the runway was all clear. Story Challenge… The story today was another Detective Crunch story called “The Woman Who Had Half a Clue.” Also really fun. So all good on the challenge and I think I have…

    Always a Battle On Monday…

Lot of Email and Workshop Stuff On Mondays… So getting a daily story done is a battle, carving out the time. Every Monday is a victory when a story gets done and tonight it was a Marble Grant story called “A Window for No Time.” Love that title. Got kind of snarky with the story, which was also fun. I am so looking forward to starting the next stage of this, which is ramping up the publishing part. I will feel a lot better if Kris has read a month’s worth of stories before I fire into that.  So not far off. Shortest story so far is 1,600 words and…

    Coaching… Getting Your Stuff Out…

So I Finally Decided To Do This… I have been talking a lot, in a lot of places, with fiction writers who have for one reason or another trouble getting their work out to readers. And often when this builds up, it causes a slowdown in the writing itself. A form of writer’s block. Kris and I have had many discussions about this problem. It turns out, every writer seems to be stuck at a very different place. And the topic is so huge, it just can’t be covered in a few workshops or classes. Some writers are stuck right at the start, facing the seemingly massive task of learning…

    Still Going Strong On Challenge…

A Short Post Here Tonight… Finished a weird Bryant Street story (they are all weird), then Kris and I watched a bunch of television. Then I read a wonderful new novella from Kris and along with two naps, a writer lunch, some walking, and a webinar, that ate up the day. Fun day. CRAFT IN THE 21ST CENTURY… This class on WMG Teachable is something Kris really wanted to do. She will be recording videos every week and they will come out on Monday some time. No assignments, just learning about how some craft things have changed in the 21st century. She has already recorded the first videos for Monday.…
