Almost Done with 70@70
That’s the title that WMG Publishing has been calling my challenge of publishing 70 major books in my 70th year on the planet.
I kind of like it. And actually I am done with my part of the challenge, now just waiting for WMG to send the last four books out wide on Monday or Tuesday next week.
Four final collections. I did the covers, all the introductions, table of contents, and so on. They were already proofed except for my introduction. So all ready to be put in Vellum and launched, which will happen on Monday or Tuesday to hit 70 in the year.
Next week I will put here an entire list of all 70 books, when they were published, and what else I did last year besides publish 70 major books.
So now, I am working on what next. I think it will be a writing challenge. Since in my 70th year I did a publishing challenge and in that year actually ended up down a little in writing total. (1.3 million consumable words vs my normal average of 1.5 consumable words in a year.)
So going to get caught up on a ton of things in November and December, then start a new writing challenge for 2022 and beyond. So stay tuned. I am sure it will be something as crazy as 70@70.
70@70 sounds great. Looking forward to see the whole list and to read about your 2022 Challenge.
Maybe 2.022 million words@2022 to stay in pattern? *joking*
Topaz, interesting idea. Hmmm
Great news. Always exciting to follow (and try to emulate, as much as possible) your writing challenges.

Wonderful! The more you write, the better for your eager readers!
Can’t wait to see the list and the new challenge!
Congratulations, Dean! This is huge and you made some unseen sacrifices to make all this happen. What a crazy year – this, Kickstarters, moving, new workshops… but your kind of crazy is awesome, because it kindles new projects in those of us who look at it and take it seriously. As in, “so what’s my excuse?” kind of seriously. Thank you for that!
Congratulations, Dean! You are a real inspiration to all writers.
Thanks, but mostly I just make writers angry by telling them they can do what I do. But thanks for the kind words.
You also inspire some writers to strive to do what you do.
Congratulations Dean !!
70@70 is a cool title.
Thanks for continuing to inspire us.
