    Writers of the Future Deadline

Before October 1st… The quarter is over on Friday, the last quarter of Volume #39. So you have until Friday to get your stories in. Not only does Writers of the Future pay 8 cents per word, but if you get in the book you get a free trip to Hollywood, a free week-long workshop taught by top writers, and nifty prize money if you win one of the top spots. That speaks nothing about the fantastic awards show. Stunning, just stunning. And no worries about me already seeing the story. I am the editor. I will know your name if you win. But Jody Lynn Nye and a cast…

    Writers of the Future Contest…

You Might Be Eligible And Not Even Know It!! And if you are eligible, you should enter every quarter without fail. Okay, I have been around the Writers of the Future contest now for 39 years. I was the first person across the stage to get my award and my first story has been in print in Volume #1 for this entire time. Big Award Ceremony

That Was Tonight… Writers of the Future Awards Event… Great fun, best banquet food I have ever seen, and I signed about a billion books and had wonderful conversations. I am a judge on Writers of the Future, but this year I was asked to write a story for the fantastic cover painting Bob Eggleton did. It as a honor. And a lot of fun to talk with the winners this year. An amazing group of writers. And even more fun to talk with a lot of old friends. So it is now late, I will be back in Vegas tomorrow afternoon, so going to get some sleep so I…

    Another Fun Day

At Writers of the Future… Writers here are great, people are nice, fun discussions. A number of us closed the bar tonight. Martin Shoemaker and a few others. And I got to meet one of my favorite artists, Larry Elmore. He and I ended up hanging around together and talking about the 1960s and art and other things for a couple hours. A wonderful man and great artist. So a really fun day. Tomorrow is the ceremony and dinner and then I will be headed home. A fun few days in the craziness of Hollywood. And if you emailed me anything today, I will get to it in the morning.…

Writers of the Future Volume #35

Book Will Be Out April 9th or So Winners will be announced as normal in a ceremony in Hollywood. And this year I will be there as a presenter, I suppose. First time in a long time. Take a look at the cover below. See my name on the cover? That’s because I have a story in it, written for that wonderful cover by Bob Eggleton. Yes, I got asked, and I was so happy to do the story. And since Bob’s cover was such fun, I decided to have fun with the story as well. In fact, the story will be the first published story of one of my…
