Changing My New Office for the Challenge

Part of Getting Ready… This living at Pulp Speed Five 10-novel challenge has me really thinking about my new office. I really, really love it, but it dawned on me a couple days ago it is not well-arranged for writing long projects. Oh, oh, I think 10 novels in 100 days is a long writing project. (grin) I am in a fairly small space, which I love. My past offices were way too big. And here I am surrounded by three large iMac computers with extra screens. Six screens in total. I flat love that. But my writing computer is not in the right spot for comfort for long hours…

    Summary Of Everything Going On

Four Major Things… So I thought I would try to sort them out and be clear on them, especially since a couple of these are ending soon or have limited space. 1… Novel and Short Story Challenge… Both the Novel Challenge and the Short Story Challenge have started. I have one spot open in both challenges still, so you can jump in any time between now and Tuesday, September 4th. Then it closes off. Costs $600 but you get two workshop credits for just giving either challenge a try. More information at Novel And Short Story Challenge. 2… Follow Along Living at Pulp Speed Five. I announced this last night…

Challenges Update… Novel, Short, and Exercise

Novel And Short Story Challenge There are two challenges starting September 1st. A short story challenge and a novel challenge. I sent letters to those signed up in the challenges tonight since they start in a week. (Room open in both challenge if interested.) What I got as responses from three people so far were that they were surprised that I wanted them to check in every Sunday during the challenges. Of course I do. Over the space of two or three months, all of us have down times and get stuck or have something going slower than desired. I will be there for everyone in the challenges to report…

    Challenges Coming Up

I Am Getting Closer to Setting Some For Myself… Since my challenge of publishing 67 major books in my 67th year failed so fantastically due to the life roll of a sudden move to Las Vegas (I will manage about 20 or so), I’ve been thinking about maybe doing 68 major published books for my 68th year. I have a little time to decide. I am also thinking of the crazy idea that came up in some comments a week back. “Living at Pulp Speed Five.”  Writing ten finished novels in 100 days.  Yeah, that is crazy, but could be great fun. And it would be a great nonfiction book…

    And the Streak Continues

Long, long, long day… Finally got everything out of the house, then drove six hours. Didn’t leave the coast until around 8 p.m., fell asleep (meaning I took a nap) in a store parking lot in Salem, then drove until 2 a.m. and am now in a nice room in a nice hotel. Tomorrow I will be rested, but tonight, for the blog streak, I am writing this filler. Back with a brain tomorrow. (And I don’t even have a cat picture to add tonight either… what is wrong with me? (Grin))

The SF Plot Twist Bundle and Nifty Picture and Challenge

Tonight I Had Dinner With Some Writers… Here I go, headed into year seven with this blog. Tonight, Chris York, Steve York, Dan Duval, and I went out to dinner as I got ready to head out of town and Chris York wore a tee-shirt from 23 years ago. You see, Kris and I needed a ton of help 23 years ago to move to the coast. So our friends who helped got special tee-shirts that said, “What is worse than getting rejected by two magazines? Moving Them!” I was editing the first incarnation of Pulphouse and Kris was the editor of F&SF 23 years ago. How Chris York found…

Six Years Without Missing A Day

A Blog Here Every Day for 2,190 Straight Days… Didn’t miss a one. Not one day, even with computer issues, web site issues, hospital stays, traveling, major move across country, death of friends. Not one day went by that I didn’t blab about something here, from important writing stuff to my cats and everything between. So here I sit, in my office in Lincoln City, doing this blog tonight. Not only does this mark six full years, but this is my last blog from this office. (No worry, I will keep the streak going until it breaks.) But tomorrow my desks and computers will be moved and this house will…

    Fun Day

Errands and Meetings and Fun Conversations… Day started off with errands since it was my first full day back in town. Then meetings at WMG and some planning out at the bookstore. Then a fun dinner with writers. Then a fun business meeting with even more writers. Then I worked in my office at WMG cleaning up business stuff until after 1 a.m. Home to watch some television and get some sleep now. I will answer email tomorrow. Damn I have a tough life. (grin) ———– (Blog Streak Day 2,180) ———- Found… The picture below is on the wall of my office that I am tearing apart. I will move…

    Back In Oregon

So Tired Tonight…. So this will be one of those filler posts to keep the blog streak alive. Kris knew I was going to be tired when I finally stopped, so she reminded me to do this on the phone as well as sent me a message. That folks, is the value of having your family involved with a streak and having them help you at times keep it going. Thanks, Kris. And wow do we have some great stuff coming up to announce. We are all really excited. How is that for vague? (I’m tired and been working on the new stuff all day as I traveled, on the…

    To Tired to Care

Not Sure Why I’m So Tired…  But Kris laughs when I say that. Anyhow, got back this early evening from actually walking and doing a tad bit of running on the track for the first time, had a small dinner, and then fell asleep on the couch. Three or so hours later I woke up enough to watch a little television. I then did some email and now am writing this before heading off to bed. Exhausted. Seems all the moving and months of short night’s sleep and all the trips back and forth from the coast to Vegas have finally caught up with me. Night. (And once again I…
