Day One of the Pulp Speed Challenge

This Is Not The First Chapter of the Book…

Just wanted to do a quick update here on the first day. Well, I got started. I will do a more complete one when I write the first chapter of the book here.

I also walked 11,000 steps, one mile of which was running. I recorded some workshop stuff and did other stuff as well.

And got my writing computer set up. That took longer than expected.

I decided to write a book called Hot Springs Meadow: A Thunder Mountain Novel. I had, up until I pulled my chair in front of my writing computer, thought I would logically start with a Cold Poker Gang novel set her in Vegas. Nope.

As I was setting up my writing computer, I noticed a bunch of stories I wrote back in November a year ago. I had done nothing with them, so I glanced at a couple and one was a short story called “Hot Springs Meadow: A Thunder Mountain Story.”

And as I glanced at it I realized I had done it wrong, completely wrong.

So as the day went on and I went running, I couldn’t get the stupid idea out of my head, trying to figure out the time paradox issues of what I had set up in that failed short story.

So instead of fighting it, when I started to write, I just typed that title in and fired up. I figured the only way to solve this problem was write the book.

I got about 3,200 words done. A good start, better than I normally do.

So that is the challenge. Those signed up for the follow along will get a letter shortly.
