    Relaxing Before the Expo

Expo Starts on Tuesday… So Kris and I planned to spend the day working, then heading out to a concert tonight to have some fun. My day wasn’t spent working, but trying to solve a massive email meltdown. Got it solved and after the Expo will make some changes to make sure that doesn’t happen again. (grin) So tonight we headed off to see Lady Gaga, her jazz performance. Stunning doesn’t even begin to describe it. I hear her regular act is special, but this was her jazz show. Wow, just wow. I think she ended up with seven or eight standing ovations through the show. It was that good.…

    I’m Really Enjoying Reading

All the Great Challenge Stories… Got a slow start on reading this week, so still have a few to do from Week #6, but every week I am so pleased at how much fun I have reading short stories. I knew that would be part of the fun I would have with the Great Challenge. Turns out it is more fun than even I expected. Do I like every story? Nope. Some are not to my tastes. Nothing wrong with them, just not to my personal liking. Others are short on Depth so I end up scanning. I tell the author when that happens. Another editor might not notice the…

    More Videos and Photos

Going to Be Lots of Photos… Not only for those of you in the Licensing Learn Along, but for me to help keep track of things at the Licensing Expo. Pictures, lots and lots of careful notes, and god only knows what else. Kris and I headed out to Mandalay Bay today to get our badges early and also to have me take a  look at the size and scale of what we were dealing with on a physical level. Everything is well under construction and the place is even larger than I had imagined. I’m going to get my walking in, that’s for sure. Just round trip to the…

    How Is The Writing Going?

Considering Everything… Not Bad… The Kickstarter just ended, we are preparing and spending a ton of time on getting ready for the Licensing Expo, the Future’s Patience workshop is ending and the Time Travel workshop is starting. And I have increased my steps to walking over 12,000 steps a day and losing weight slowly and spent a little time in the gym running five of the last seven days. (Down 7 pounds in six weeks.) And I have been working on a new web site and learning InDesign to do covers and ramping all that up. So how is the writing going with all that? Actually, fine. And picking up…

    About Twelve Hours Left

The Diving Universe Kickstarter is just about over… It hit all of its stretch goals, which means that anyone who supports it for any reward will get all kinds of great reading from Kris, plus all kinds of lectures and workshops from WMG Publishing. This one is a stunner. So don’t miss out on this great Kickstarter campaign. Only a few hours left!! Ends Thursday evening. Diving Universe Kickstarter. NEW VIDEO ON LICENSING… Plus six images of the four flyers we just got back from the printer. I just put them all on the Licensing Learn Along on Teachable. I will post even more videos in the next few days,…

    Time Travel, Romance, and Licensing

All Kinds of Fun Stuff… Tomorrow I will put up some more videos and some flyers and stuff on the Learn Along Licensing event. Got some nifty stuff and the event is still six days away. Remember, it will be in three parts. Part one is this preparation phase, then the Expo phase, then the results and discussion phase. That third phase might be getting new videos for months afterwards. Still lots of room to jump into the fun. Once signed up, it will always be available for you to go back and review and ask me questions. But I will shut it off for new signups a short time…

    How We Learn

Observations About The Learn Along… After my post last night, I got some comments and a bunch of letters that helped me put into perspective what was happening. Thank you, everyone. To me and Kris, we would have killed to be in something like this to learn licensing cheaply when we started out. But why was our attitude so different than so many now? Is it because we understood the value of licenses and others did not? Maybe. Or that this area was just too scary? Maybe. But then the answer dawned on me why we would have jumped at this when young writers and so many were not. University…

Not Many Writers Want To Make Money

On Their Writing… I just put up four more videos on the Learn Along with Dean in the preparation section. And you get an entire Classic Workshop to learn from as well. (Magic Bakery code is there.) And it isn’t even as expensive as a regular workshop, even though there will be a workshop’s amount of information if not more. Practical information. But very few have signed up. And to be honest, I was surprised at how few have signed up. For me, making money with my writing is such a no-brainer, I want to soak up and learn as many ways as possible how to do it. And I…

    Want to Work With Me?

Four Main Ways… To work with me on your writing and publishing business. The most intense and regular way is to have me be your mentor for a year. There is one spot still open in that. I announced that spot three or four months ago and forgot to mention it didn’t fill. Basically, as a mentor I am here for you when you need a question answered, to be talked off a ledge, or to proof your sales copy. I read anything you want me to read and I also have each person check in with me on Sunday to tell me what they have been doing or not…

    Just a Day

A Couple People Asked… Since I used to detail out my days a lot here, and at some point in the future, I might do it again for a special project or something, and a few people have asked why I don’t do that now, I’ll show you today, a fairly normal day at the moment. Managed to be up and moving around 10 am, did some email and business until around noon, then wrote about 1,500 words in two short sessions. (Working on a new Cold Poker Gang novel called Ring Game. The one I just finished will be to the challenge followers in a week or so.) Kris…
