    Kickstarter Friday

Some Fiction Campaigns That Are Worth Studying and Backing… I do this every Friday when I have a few campaigns I think are worth putting here. I will not say much negative about a campaign. If there is too much or it is going to fail, I won’t post it here. And for those wondering where I get off judging Kickstarter Campaigns by fiction writers, I have now done 55 of them, every one funded and made money. My first campaign was in the very early days of Kickstarter. But if yoyu are going to study campaigns that I have done, study the last year or so. I am continuing…

    Takes Balance in Indie Publishing…

Indie Takes Knowing Major and Minor Skills… Back in traditional publishing days, hundreds of thousands of writers worked to get past the gate keepers and get their books bought and into print. A few out of those thousands actually made it for a ton of varied reasons.  And so few out of those who made it actually had careers longer than a few books. Reasons… Many were just not good storytellers, rewrote everything into mush, and had no voice, didn’t understand the entire business process of submission, or more than likely, just did not have the drive to keep going and keep learning and working to get better. They claimed…

    Personal Sales Help…

Only For a Few Writers… Okay, after a number of requests, I am going to do this officially. Since this time last year, Kris has helped a small number of writers with their craft, reading assignments every two weeks. She is not taking anyone new and that is almost all done. And as we have done the camp last summer and the promotions workshop this fall and other classes along the way with branding and such, it has become clear that some writers just need help with sales. And not the kind of sales you would imagine. To put it bluntly, many writers are simply creating stories that won’t sell…

    Fun Day…

Great News Is Always Fun… Especially after all the problems these last two years. When things have been bumpy, you really enjoy the good stuff when it happens. So after Kris got done with her webinar this afternoon, and we got the cleaners out of our condo, we headed off to Crossroads Restaurant in Resorts World to celebrate the good news, just the two of us. Fine dining with cloth tablecloths and more service than should be allowed. Stunningly wonderful-tasting food. Just perfect. And nope, good news stays with us and close friends. Sorry. Just trust me, it was stunning news and worth a great meal. (grin) And then we…

    Now Half Full!!…

FALL INDIE WRITING FESTIVAL… Online October 20th through November 14th Going to put this basic information here again since we are now just over half full. Plus today Steph at WMG made an oops and sent out a newsletter saying there was one video per day. She corrected that at once, of course. We have a minimum of five videos a day, often over ten when we do special focus things. There will be between 150 and 200 learning videos in the four weeks you can do on your own time. But staying up with the videos as they go along also allows you to ask questions, which is an…

    I Made It…

Not Pretty or In Good Time… But once again this year I finished the Vegas Strong 5K. I had great plans to be in shape, lose weight, and so on over the summer to get ready for this official start of the fall here in Vegas. They really were great plans. Honest. Did not one thing. I am 20 pounds overweight and have not been walking any distance at all except on days we go to basketball games. But at those I eat like a 10-year-old kid. So today was the day of the run (I am not allowed to run because of what happened two years ago when I…

Questions on Fall Indie Writing Festival

A Number of Good Questions… Basic festival information is below… First question I got is how many videos to watch over the four weeks if you want to keep up? The Summer Indie Writing Camp had about 150 videos. A ton of information and nothing in the fall one will be repeated from the summer. Just added to and a bunch of brand new topics we did not reach in the summer. But remember, there are no assignments so you can watch the videos at any point, but if you want ot ask questions, you will want to keep up. Second question I got was why was it limited to…

    FALL INDIE WRITING FESTIVAL…

FALL INDIE WRITING FESTIVAL… Online October 20th through November 14th Since we did the last master class back six or seven years ago, we have been trying to come up with a way to bring everything in indie publishing and writing together. And have it all presented in a way that makes sense. With our regular workshops and classes and such, there are so many gaps of large areas we are missing that we want to cover. Really important gaps to indie writers and publishers. So this last summer in our INDIE WRITING CAMP, we did our best in an orderly fashion that we hoped helped writers of all levels…

New Fey Kickstarter Coming October 7th

THE UNEXPECTED HERO… Another great Fey novel… Just got the promotion page up for it. And we already got from Kickstarter the “Project We Love” designation. That’s great fun. Take a look at it, see what you think, and Kris’s introduction is there on the promotion page as well. See what you think about the new section header for About the Author. We have finally broke the rectangle look that Loren Coleman and I suggested seven years ago. THE UNEXPECTED HERO: A New Fey Book and Kickstarter
