The Annoyance of Streaks

No One Talks About The Negative of Streaks…

All we talk about is how they help us get stuff done, and how powerful they are to get us moving. And so much more.

And all of it true.

But sometimes, streaks are just annoying.

For example, my very short streak of five miles of exercise every day is all the way up to three days now. And I can feel it gaining power with each day. But tonight, to get the last of those miles, I was walking alone in a hallway on the 7th floor of this building because one lap around that hallway is exactly 1/5th of a mile. Five laps equal a mile, so at 11 pm tonight, when I would rather be up in my office writing, I was walking the last 1.5 miles of my exercise streak to get to five miles for the day. (Too hot to be outside.)

Now if that is not annoying, I don’t know what is.

And now it is basically three in the morning and I just finished a short story and instead of going down to relax in front of the television, I have to write a blog to keep up my 10-year-plus daily streak.

Yup, both streaks are very good for me, both powerful or gaining power to keep me going. And I have no intention of missing either one.

But annoying? Yeah, tonight both of my only two streaks were annoying.

So keep that in mind when you start a streak. It will really help you, no doubt at all, but it will annoy the hell out of you at times.
