    Organizing Lectures

There are a Bunch of Them… All WMG Publishing workshops, Pop-ups, lectures, subscriptions, challenges, and classes are half price at the moment on Teachable. Just hit purchase and put in the code: SUMMERSCHOOLSALE The sale will be going for a few more days is all. And while this has been going on, I thought it might be a good time to tackle the curriculum project of helping people know what workshops, pop-ups, or lectures to take to match not only their interests, but also in what order. The first night I got the top 20 craft workshops and put them in an order. Find that here. Second night I did…

    More Workshops Organized

While the Half-Price Sale Is Happening… I figured I would continue to try to put some order on the massive numbers of workshops, lectures, pop-ups, and classes we have. A curriculum if you will. Very loose one. Very. Yesterday’s blog I did what I considered the top twenty regular and classic workshops to take if your desire is to become a better storyteller. Basically craft workshops. I am going to go back and add in Shared World Class and Year of the Cat class. Both are great on craft focused writing. And I tried to put the workshops yesterday in an order that would make sense to take them over…

    Playing With Licensing

Once Again… I mentioned a while back for the Cold Poker Gang kickstarter that I created a set of cards with all the book covers as the backs. Looks way cool. And a few people will be getting signed decks from me from the Kickstarter rewards. (By the way, the surveys have all been sent out. I will be contacting you with workshop stuff later in the week.) I also got one test deck of cards with the new book only on it. Way cool looking. I also made a poker chip set with Cold Poker Gang on every chip in gold lettering and my new book cover on the…

Cold Poker Gang Kickstarter Hit Goal!!!

In Just 24 Hours!! Wow. That is so cool. Thank you, everyone! Going to finally get the entire series into hardback and all supporters will get an early copy to read of BOTTOM PAIR, the new novel. That will be available to early readers from the campaign later this fall and published for everyone later in the winter. Remember, there is a nifty new workshop only available through this campaign called How to Write Mystery Series. A number of people have asked if it will be different from what Kris taught in her in-person (and Study Along) mystery workshop. And different from the now classic Writing Mysteries Workshop and the…

    A Streak Still Holding

Day 2,860… That’s how many days it has been since I missed writing something here on this blog. August 1st, 2012 I started. And the reason I counted this tonight is because I have a Kickstarter campaign I will announce here tomorrow afternoon, but needed to keep my streak alive here tonight. So write about the streak. Duh… I suppose I should also tell you that June Regular workshops are starting today and tomorrow. And those of you signed up for the June session of Creative Nonfiction Writing workshop from the last Kickstarter, it also started today. (Only could get it in the Kickstarter.) And the June Historical Fiction special…

    Wow! It’s June!

We Made It Through May… Actually, unlike April which seemed in a time sense to take forever, May flashed right past. And I do understand that a lot of people did not live through May. I got that. But the rest of us out here, trying to do what is right, stay safe, keep working and writing and taking care of families. We made it through another month of the craziness. Another month closer to whatever point all this is going to end. Who knows what the rest of 2020 has to offer. Like Kris, I just want to flip to the end of this book. But we can’t, so…

    Decade Ahead Second Quarter 2020

Seven New Videos Are There… Also, since this second quarter is so different than any normal second quarter for writers, we have decided that no only will this Decade Ahead class go through the end of the year, but we will do the second quarter, and more than likely the third quarter, next year with a bunch of normal videos about how to get through these months writing in a normal year. This month, like last month, I have some videos up on how to write through this pandemic there as well. So another class gets extended. The licensing transition is already extended for a full year as well. Both…

Year of the Cat and Workshops

First Year of the Cat Book Out! Kickstarter supporters of the campaign who got all twelve books should have gotten it by now in electronic format. Paper will lag a few weeks, like normal. The first book is called “A Cat of a Different Color” and is also now out for sale and I have put a link for anyone in the Year of the Cat Study Class to get a free copy.  In the class I will start talking about the stories in July from this first volume and then go from there every month for an entire year. That’s right, as an editor, I will talk about 100…

    Killing Critical Voice Workshop

Now Available!!! After that incredible response yesterday, and a ton of letters from people, all 100% wanting the new Killing Critical Voice workshop, Kris and I spent some time on it and it is now available. Thank you all for the feedback!! Like Writing with Depth workshop, and the Publishing 101 workshop, Killing Critical Voice workshop will be available every month. First one starts on June 3rd, next week. As we got this together, I was very surprised we hadn’t offered this one before. Sort of a well-duh kind of thing. And I warned in the introduction video, this might hurt a little for some people as I hit at…

    A Busy Friday

Nothing on the Surface to Show For It. Didn’t even get caught up on regular email. I will Saturday, so no worries if I have not responded yet on something. Kris and I spent some time in a furniture store today. Masks in place, and they were enforcing social distancing. So very safe.  We were there because of the standard Memorial Day Furniture sales here in the States. We shopped, found some things we wanted, then went to get take-out for lunch and called Allyson to confirm everything, then I went back to buy what we had found. We ended up with a fantastic table and chairs for the new…
