Learning Curves
My Publishing Challenge Is Forcing The Learning…
And to be honest, I am loving it. I have gone from a good dozen things to learn or relearn down to two major areas left.
Learning is scary and exciting and rewarding and so much more. Especially when it concerns my own work getting fixed and out. With every book, every new thing learned, I get more and more excited.
And the more stuff I get cleaned up from past years of neglect and sheer incompetence, the more excited I get as well.
Being afraid of learning puzzles me. Sure, I have felt the fear of the unknown. Got that. Fear of mistakes. Understand that as well.
But writing and publishing is just not rocket science or brain surgery. It is not hard and no one will die if you make a mistake. Honestly, no one will really notice.
On my publishing challenge, I am at 17 books, and in one week after I get a bunch of Kickstarter rewards caught up, I will be firing into my new collections. I have 25 collections put together and covers done, ready for Vellum. I have another five collections put together but no covers yet. I have organized all my short fiction that is yet to go into collections and have another 20 collections worth of stories, bringing the total up to 50 collections.
That will take me to 67 books or so. I have some ideas on how to get those last eight books.
Stay tuned. This is great fun, both the challenge and all the learning it has taken to get even this far.
