Just Cleaning Up Some Stuff… First off, got a few questions about why we are not doing a Pulphouse Kickstarter this summer. Answer is pretty simple. Pulphouse Fiction Magazine is still on hiatus and we want to get everything cleared up before we even think of moving forward. But I really do appreciate the interest and support. Just not ready yet. How People Are Watching My Challenge…
Like It’s A Car Wreck… Mouth open, saying nothing, not believing it is happening. You know the feeling. My challenge of 75 major books in my 75th year just sort of smacks one too many belief systems for most writers. Interestingly enough, in all my years in traditional publishing, all the hundreds of anthologies I got invited into by top editors, not once was I offered a collection of my short fiction. Exactly Three Months To Go… The challenge ends on my 76th birthday on November 10th. In case you have missed what I am doing, I am attempting to publish 75 major books (novels, collections, novellas, omnibus are all major books. Moving At Speed Now… Finally… I have three months and two weeks to get the last 49 books done and out published. (I am calling “published” as either done for a Kickstarter or for a bundle or up on Bookfunnel. That is because these are being used in a lot of ways for sales. My Challenge Update…
ABOUT WHERE I HAD HOPED TO BE… The challenge I set for myself from November 10th, 2025 until November 10th 2026 is to publish 75 major books in my 75th year. As expected, I had so many learning curves, my year started off slow, and we were still dealing with the last of the legal crap which has now cleared completely. And my goal was to get all my short fiction finally together and in ten-story collections. Organizing years of not being organized and finding hundreds and hundreds of short stories turned out to take most of the winter. But I got them all together in 50 collections (500 stories……

Learning Curves
My Publishing Challenge Is Forcing The Learning… And to be honest, I am loving it. I have gone from a good dozen things to learn or relearn down to two major areas left. Learning is scary and exciting and rewarding and so much more. Especially when it concerns my own work getting fixed and out. With every book, every new thing learned, I get more and more excited. One At A Time… Way back when indie publishing first started, I did everything for myself. So did Kris Rusch. I did covers with Power Point (stop laughing, it worked), loaded word docs into what each place called a “grinder” and somehow managed to get over two hundred titles up for the major Kindle Christmas. Half Way On My Challenge…
Six Months To My 76th Birthday… And yes, I am counting because I am trying to do this totally insane challenge of publishing 75 major books in my 75th year on the planet. So at 6 months, I have learned a ton, with two major learning curves yet to fight. As I said in a previous post, I have most of my short fiction organized (after years and years of bad systems and just not doing it.) I have put together 25 collections, with TOC and covers. I’m Going Old School… I have too many learning curves to get under control already, so in planning the next 7 months of this challenge, I am going old-school, with a dry-erase schedule on my wall with goal dates to have books done. And I do have a spread sheet for a lot of my stories, so using it to put 10-story collections together with one of the stories as the title story.
