Fun Writing Project!

This Will Start in the New Poker Boy Kickstarter…

It has been decades or more since I Turckerized anyone. Tuckerization was mostly started when Wilson “Bob” Tucker would put his friends and other writer’s names into his stories and books as a joke or as a shout out to them. He did it so often, it became known by his name. (Bob was a very friendly guy and I was lucky enough to spend time with him in the early 1990s.)

In this modern world, you never do that without asking the permission of the person being Tuckerized. For example, in one Star Trek book Kris and I wrote, we put our two best friends in as captains of Starships. In an alien novel I wrote, I had the alien kill my three pro golfing buddies. Again, all with permission.

But it has been decades since I have done that, but it sounded fun to do in some Poker Boy stories.

So in the campaign, there will be a reward for $200 limited to 10. Anyone takes that reward will not only get the four Poker Boy collections, but also I will work with each person to learn a little about them, their likes, and make them either a superhero or a god in an area they like in a Poker Boy story.

Remember, in the Poker Boy world, there is a god for every area of life and they have superheroes working for them. So yes, if your passion is knitting, I could make you a superhero in the world of knitting and you could help Poker Boy in a story.

Then I will put the 10 stories (If 10 don’t sign up, I will write a number of extras with close friends) and those stories will be put in a 10-story collection called BY ANY OTHER NAME and Other Poker Boy Stories. Each person who signs up will also get an electronic version of the book to read and a hardback version signed personally by me. This will come out in limited form toward the end of the year. (Got to give me time to write the ten stories.)

This has got me really excited. Going to be a challenge to come up with stories about a bunch of different areas where the God or Superhero plays a part in the story.

The link is to check out more about the Kickstarter campaign and be notified when it launches on the 1st of April.

    I like the concept.

Similarly, when any of my characcters are also readers, I often mention other real writers and the title of their novel in my own novels. I figure

    1) if the character’s reading anyway, s/he might as well be reading a real novel by a real writer just in case the ‘real’ reader checks, and

    2) a rising tide lifts all boats. How does it harm me to lift up other writers?

I love the idea of being the goddess of knitting (or something). You’ve piqued my interest!

You keep saying that we writers support each other, but your kickstarters are going to suck up all of my reading budget – time and money both, 😆
