Last Hours Of Kickstarter
Enjoying Writers of the Future Second full day here at Writers of the Future. Ended up doing a presentation today with Tim Powers and Jody Lyne Nye on the topic of Hollywood, which considering we are sitting in the middle of Hollywood sort of ironic. Had dinner with Rob Sawyer. Great time sitting in the bar talking with writers later. Fun day. Tomorrow is the big event, so if you want to see me and Larry Elmore help each other across a stage to present awards in Tux’s, tune into the he live stream on writers of the future.com Also still got a Kickstarter going for a few more hours.…

A Fun Challenge…
This Is Only An Idea… Many of you know I got basically an eye infection in my only good eye back in late October that pretty much made me blind for a time and vision challenged for months now. Docs said it would take six months to get better and it has been getting better. Still not back yet, but I am getting back reading. I will be catching up on workshop stories I have let go (thanks for understanding) and even more fun I will be reading Kris’s new Diving novel that has been sitting on my table for three weeks. Damn that is exciting. But even more exciting…

What Is Writing In Public?
Got That Question Twice Today… Because I mentioned it when talking about writing the first Cave Creek novel. So even though I will show this and talk about it later this week when I start the novel, here is what I mean. I have, over time, basically did a chronicle here of my day, most of the details, and how much writing I got on a certain project. I did that when I wrote the novel in five days while traveling, and that is the name of the book that came out of the blog posts. And I started the practice when I wrote a novel in ten days as…

A Picture of Me Typing
On My Little iPad… Since my office in the condo in Las Vegas is not set up yet, I was sitting at the table in our condo dining room working on something when Kris got this picture as I was paying no attention. Since today I spent all day shuttling cars around here on the Oregon Coast (returning rental car, having our Cadillac tuned up), and in meetings at WMG and stores and cleaning up stuff, I figured I would just do something easy here tonight. So here comes the picture. You can see the mountains to the west of Vegas through the shades. And I had a fun dinner…

BOOK #6 OF 67
Up to Sharing Book Six… For each book of the 67 books with my name on them that I hope to publish in my 67th year of life, I will do a video. These videos will lag behind the actual publication because I want to wait for the paper copy to arrive. This video is about Burn Card: A Cold Poker Gang Novel. ————– Weekender Pop-Up Online Workshops Are Now Up on Teachable. A couple of these are about half full. https://wmg-publishing-workshops-and-lectures.teachable.com February 15-18, 2018 — Controlling Fear of Failure — How to Study and Practice in Fiction (A Study Plan) March 15-18th — Adding Tension to Your Writing —…

A Nifty Christmas Video and Bundle
Day 1,570 of Daily Blogs Without Missing… Now that’s a stunner, huh? Every day, through internet crashes, trips, sickness, and nothing to say, I have been here typing something every night. Sort of like a bad faucet you can’t get a plumber to fix. Just keeps on dripping. (grin) ————– Got a nifty Christmas books video from WMG Publishing I wanted to share. Kris did a draft of this last year, then Gwyneth updated it for this year. Plus, I got a great bundle going on right now that is all Christmas books. It’s called Christmas Cheer bundle with Storybundle that I curated. Not one, not two, but three of the…

Bundles in BundleRabbit.com
Many of you know my fondness for bundles… I find multi-author bundles a fantastic new addition to the publishing world, great for both authors and for readers. But mostly for readers. I hear all the time about how hard it is to find new books. Well, bundles are a great way. I bet many of you didn’t know about this fantastic place called Bundlerabbit. Now unlike bundles I normally push here, Bundlerabbit bundles can be bought at a very low price on Amazon, Kobo, B&N, and on BundleRabbit. And the combinations of novels and authors are unlimited. For example, in this very cool bundle called Guns of the West, I…

Change of Format Again
Change of Format Again… Okay, I tried the other form for an entire week and honestly, some of it worked and some of it didn’t work for me and some of it didn’t work for numbers of others. Got a few comments, but mostly private e-mails saying people liked the new form on the main page and they liked being able to forward and tweet posts, but not the form having to go to another page to see the counts. So going to leave the new form on the front page. All good there. And going to keep doing posts that are not cluttered so people can share them with ease…

Fun Day
Fun Day Worked on first the master class, then recorded another week of the POV workshop, then home to cook dinner, take a nap, and work more on the master class stuff. Great fun. This workshop is going to be a real challenge and the POV workshop is already a real challenge to try to present such a vast area of information and techniques and have it make sense. So I am challenged and when I am challenged, I have fun. The Point of View workshop is also offered in November, but trust me, you don’t want to even try it without the depth workshop first. — This is a…

One Day Left
One Day Left! The only has one day left. What is in the subscription drive? Discounted subscriptions, of course, on Fiction River and Fiction River Presents. Both electronic and paper. We are also offering a package of writing books. And discounted lectures and discounted online workshops. And since we have hit the fourth stretch goal, even if you sign up for a workshop you get four free books as well as a Fiction River subscription. That seems to be very popular, getting workshops at a discount. I have just put up a curriculum for the workshops to help writers focus on what to take first and so on, since so many have taken…
