Catching Up And Pulphouse Fun
Totally Normal After a Long Workshop…
The day was full of a ton of different things, from unloading the van full of stuff from the workshop to checking in with all three stores to working on workshops. All regular stuff after a long week of a major coast workshop.
But also tonight, after being caught up, I got to play with putting Pulphouse Fiction Magazine Issue Zero together. Wonderful fun.
All of the stories in Issue Zero will be only reprints, so I am have had the pleasure of reading great stories I either haven’t read before, or ones I remember fondly from twenty-some years before.
And the writers with stories in Issue Zero are amazing. Mike Resnick, Steve Perry, Kristine Kathryn Rusch, Kevin J. Anderson, O’Neil De Noux, Jerry Oltion, Nina Kiriki Hoffman, M.L. Buckman and many others.
At least 15 writers, if not more. Not completely done yet. Those who supported the Pulphouse Kickstarter will get Issue Zero and then Issue One will be out in January.
I am also getting ready to start my own challenge and I have been slowly reading challenge stories from those signed up as they come in. I will speed up on that now that a month has passed.
So ready for the 1st as the short story per day challenge kicks in. Stay tuned as I will start detailing out my days events for one month, boring at that may be.
All have openings at the moment. Information at https://deanwesleysmith.com/online-workshops/
Yes, even the new Novel Structure workshop has openings. And those of you with Kickstarter credits can take a November workshop if you want. We will be sending out the surveys as soon as Kickstarter releases everything to us. Any day now.

I just finished a handful of your web-based Classics Workshops and I highly recommend fans of this blog do the same. Starting next Monday, I’m going to do your short-story a week challenge. Seems a good place to start since I have a day job and kids. But I hope to build up from there.
Thanks, Philip. Have fun with the writing. Keep it fun. That really is the key.
