A Fun Day!

Off To The Old Ball Game…

Basketball, actually. Aces.

I managed to crawl out of bed and get ready just in time for us to head out to first get yummy pizza before the game. (Pizza for breakfast just ain’t something I am going to complain about. (grin))

Game was fun, even though we lost. Frustrating, but worth watching. And good friends there. And watching the little kids play a game at halftime was so, so much fun. Made my heart feel good to watch the girls and boys battle it out. And one of them actually made a shot. The entire place cheered.

Then Kris and I headed for great Mexican food and had a great dinner. Got home around 7 pm and I took a two hour nap. (Yeah, I know, tough life.) Watched the new episode of the Librarians and then I came up here to do email and record.

Now, to top off a really great day, I am going to go continue reading Kris’s new novel.

    Hi Dean,
Great to read about the fun you had. Even in the short para describing the kids play, I see how you get us involved and feel as if we ourselves were there and a smile comes up when I finish reading that para. Lot to learn.

A question I have on the first reader. I assume you and Kris are the first reader for each other. However, do you use others as first reader? What is the expectation we should set? Any instruction one should give to a first reader to avoid them giving feedback to rewrite sentences etc.

Typos only is what you tell a first reader. Nothing more and if they try to give you anything more, shut them down, ignore them.

Yes, Kris and I read each other’s first, mostly out of habit and enjoyment. At a certain stage, there is no use for first readers.
