A Second Filler Post
The drive from Redding, California, over the mountains and down into the valley with Portland, Salen, Eugene Oregon was fine. But from there it got sort of tricky. Hitting with 70 mph winds tonight here on the coast and nasty rain. I came in over the coast range through it. Tiring drive. White snow along the road, heavy fog, hard rain, and wind. Places I couldn’t see anything, let alone the road. Not fun. But I made it. So I managed to get the workshop assignments done tonight and will be back at everything full tomorrow and will do a wrap-up on the travel book here. But tonight the power is…

Chapter Seven: Writing a Novel in Five Days While Traveling
WRITING A NOVEL IN FIVE DAYS WHILE TRAVELING CHAPTER SEVEN Fifth and final day of writing on the novel and it turned out fine. Yup, got the book finished. Go figure. I’ll explain more below. I ended up with 9,500 words today including the 1,600 I did after I finished yesterday’s chapter here. Book came in at 37,100 words. But I might need to flush out the ending because I figured out the end, was tired and did a lot of “and then this happened ” And actually, all the novels in this series have run from 36,000 words to 43,000 words, so this is spot on for length for the series. However,…

Chapter Six: Writing a Novel in Five Days While Traveling
WRITING A NOVEL IN FIVE DAYS WHILE TRAVELING… CHAPTER SIX… Fourth day of writing on the novel and it turned out fine, but I didn’t make up any ground. But I had a great day both writing and on the vacation part. I ended up with 8,200 words, but had been hoping for a few thousand more. I might still get some more in, but I’ll add them onto tomorrow if I do since it’s 4 a.m. Detailing Out the Day… Once again I made it out of bed by noon and by 1 p.m. I had showered, gotten dressed, and was headed for lunch with the guys in the buffet. Yes, we…

Chapter Five: Writing a Novel in Five Days While Traveling
WRITING A NOVEL IN FIVE DAYS WHILE TRAVELING… CHAPTER FIVE… Third day of writing on the novel and it turned out to be one of the types of days I was worried about having when doing the planning. The vacation part of the day and a bunch of business completely overwhelmed the writing hours. And there was a lot of business stuff. So I ended up with 3,800 words, but still it was a really fun day, which is the main reason I am traveling here. So maybe there will need to be an adjustment on this nonfiction book. I’ll talk about that below.. Detailing Out the Day… I made it out of bed…

Chapter Four: Writing a Novel in Five Days While Traveling
WRITING A NOVEL IN FIVE DAYS WHILE TRAVELING… CHAPTER FOUR… Second day of writing on the novel and it was difficult, as I expected. For a couple of reasons I’ll talk about below. But it still happened and I got just over 7,600 words done. So day two was a success. Not as planned, but as expected. Detailing out the Day I made it out of bed by noon and by 1 p.m. I had showered, gotten dressed, and was headed for lunch with the guys in the buffet. I was exhausted and my shoulders felt like rocks. Writing this many words (over nine thousand yesterday plus e-mails) is a physical sport to not…

Chapter Three: Writing a Novel in Five Days While Traveling
WRITING A NOVEL IN FIVE DAYS WHILE TRAVELING… CHAPTER THREE… First day of writing on the novel. Here we go. And as planned, it didn’t happen exactly as planned by a long ways. But it still happened and I got just over 8,000 words done. So day one success. Not as planned, but remember I said flexible was the key on this and today I was flexible. Detailing out the Day I made it out of bed by noon and by 1 p.m. I had showered, gotten dressed, had a bunch of water and a power bar and was sitting down at the computer to first get my e-mail, then write. It…

Chapter Two: Writing a Novel in Five Days While Traveling
WRITING A NOVEL IN FIVE DAYS WHILE TRAVELING… CHAPTER TWO… Third day of traveling and I will be starting the novel tomorrow. So doing these introduction and preparation chapters first for the nonfiction book as I go along. A sort of writing travel book. Sort of. Travel Today… I have my computer set up just fine where it will sit for the next five days. And today was a much easier drive than the previous two days by a long ways. I left Fresno, CA around 11 a.m. and was in this suite in Las Vegas before 6 p.m. I went out for dinner by 7 p.m., then a long walk to…

1/10/17 Daily… Some pictures
Another daily post outside of the book chapter… Compared to the first two days, this was an easy day. Got to Vegas in six plus hours, no issues. All settled in. Some pictures of where I will be writing. This suite in Vegas is huge and comfortable. I will not be suffering. (grin) First picture is looking from the front foyer past the living room area toward one window. This is a corner suite on the 17th floor. Fantastic views. Second picture is of where I have the computer set up. What I Learned Today (Streak Day 10) For some reason, every time I come to Las Vegas, I realize…

Chapter One: Writing a Novel in Five Days While Traveling
WRITING A NOVEL IN FIVE DAYS WHILE TRAVELING… CHAPTER ONE… Second day of traveling and I will be starting the novel in two days. So doing introduction and preparation chapters first for the nonfiction book as I go along. A sort of writing travel book. Sort of. Besides the cover and the series the novel will be in, do I have anything plotted out for the novel? Nope. Not a thing and I’m not going to, actually. I didn’t even think about it once today. But I have done a few basic preparations besides making sure I had a computer with me that I could write on. But before I get…

1/9/17 Daily
Doing this daily post to track numbers every couple of days… As I go through this travel challenge, every couple of days I’ll just do a standard daily post as well that won’t be part of the nonfiction book. Also, I killed the running and writing on the side of the page here. I could never remember to update it. (grin) What I Learned Today (Streak Day 9) I am from Idaho. I have driven back roads that I thought rivaled anything in the country as for pure beauty and scary and narrow and twisted. And I’ve been on a few back roads in Oregon as well. Not as tough as…
