IN-PERSON WORKSHOPS ALL SET!!!

Space Opera In-Person Workshop Starts Monday…

Right here in the WMG office in Las Vegas. We wanted to make sure it would work and it will. And will be great for writers attending for a ton of reasons, not the least of which is food and comfort and being able to have your own coffee in the room. (grin).

So not having to mess with the problems of scheduling with hotels, and going back to what we had planned in 2019 before you-know-what hit, the craft workshops will all be in the WMG office for the next two years.

And for the craft workshops, we are avoiding the summer. Just too hot. The Anthology Workshop in 2026 will still be the first week of August at Resorts World. But only thing we are doing in the summer.

So Adventure Fiction craft workshop has moved to January 2026. I wrote everyone signed up already.

So right now taking sign-ups for the In-Person Craft Workshops. You must write me directly and to have me put your name on the list, you must pay the fee.

Since these are all in the office now, we must limit these classes to ten writers working directly with Kris, so got a hunch they will all fill and rather quickly. So get on the list. All fees paid are fully refundable up until one month before the workshop, then they are transferable.

But for one week only, as an early-bird discount, the normal workshop fee of $750 is $600. If you sign up and pay in the next few days. Save $150.

Also, for the first time since 2018, we are offering a lifetime subscription to In-Person classes. This includes all craft nd the Anthology workshop and any other in-person classes we do into the future. (This is never given away as a challenge reward on Teachable.)

And credits from Teachable or the Everything Subscription on Teachable do NOT apply.

WORKSHOP DETAILS…

Craft Workshops All Taught by Kristine Kathryn Rusch.

They all start on a Monday at 10 am and end at noon on the Thursday. Fly in on Sunday, out on either Thursday afternoon or Friday morning.

Writers find their own hotel rooms. Fremont Street hotels are four blocks easy walk in the fall, winter, and spring. Or very cheap ride share. Restaurants all around the office for easy and cheap lunches. (They all cater to locals who work in the area, not tourists.)

These are writing workshops. You will be writing ahead of time and while here.

STUDY ALONG WORKSHOPS…

All of these also have Study Along classes on Teachable. They are listed and are already in the Lifetime Study Along subscription which the Everything Lifetime people have. The Study Along Classes happen at the same time and on the same subject as the In-Person, only I do the videos and read the assignments, not Kris. And there are no craft assignments. But if you can’t make the in-person class, you get a pretty good idea of what is going on each day.

They run at the same dates and all will have a Novella add-on as well. You can sign up for those now and if you have a lifetime subscription to Study Along, the classes are already included. And yes, on Teachable you can use credits for the Study Along. Just not the In-Person.

SHORT STORY OF THE DAY… #9

Bound to happen. I started a novel… (Remember, I have no control or try to put control on my creative voice.)

I managed to get about 400 words of a start this afternoon after grocery shopping and dinner and a nap before watching some television. Worked on this workshop stuff (which we are all excited about since the Space Opera class starts in the office on Monday) Got back to the writing around 2 am going to my writing computer and firing up again on the story I had started.

It was a Thunder Mountain story called “History Repeats the Sadness.” (Title sort of screamed Thunder Mountain when I typed t in, so didn’t fight the creative voice and went with it.

Got about 1,500 words and by that point I knew this was a novel. Not even one I could wrap. It was paced as a novel and everything. So I stopped, wrote novel across the manuscript, and printed it off.

This is part of this challenge, that I will do novel starts. Some I can wrap down into a short story, a few I can not. But they still count for me. I will write the novel next year is what I promised my creative voice. That is the third Thunder Mountain novel I now have waiting. I think I might next year just write all three in a month for the fun of it. Sort of live in my Thunder Mountain world.
