Pulphouse Going Monthly
New Kickstarter Starting Tuesday at Noon! I have been putting some final touches on the Pulphouse Kickstarter campaign and I added in a picture of me and Kris from 1988, the year after we started Pulphouse. Then it dawned on me that I had been involved in or around Pulphouse for 36 years. Of course, Kris and I shut down the company in 1996 and didn’t bring Pulphouse Fiction Magazine back until 2017, but still, that is a long time. You can get you name on the followers page to be notified when the campaign launches. Cick Here… And some great special workshops offered only twice and only through the…

The Heat…
Yeah, Stupidly Hot! Here and all over the West, plus in a bunch of places in Europe. Don’t worry, most of us here in Vegas are set up for the heat. 110 to 115 and 5% humidity. We just don’t go out much in it. We have our cars in an indoor parking garage for our building. So yesterday, for example, I went to the grocery store after dark, had to walk in 105 degree heat from the car inside the store and then back to the car. Actually felt good coming out of the air-conditioning in the store. Kris today had to go from the car to the health…

Exercise and Weight Challenge
I Started July 1st… So today, Saturday July 15th, is the start of the third week. Time to check in with myself and reset some. My overall goal was to lose 20 pounds by October 1st. And be back running solidly most if not all of a 5K. I had been stuck on this weight for most of two years, and not willing to make the drastic changes it took to move off it, both in food and exercise. What I needed was to do both. So switched my diet to healthy stuff only (fruits, veggies, protein), dropped drinking diet drinks of any kind, drank a lot of water, and…

Pulp Speed Post Forward Again…
Been Over Two Years… A number of writers over the last six months have asked me to bring forward the old explanation of Pulp Speed in writing. So here it is… (I wrote this post around 2014, then brought it forward to 2016, then 2017, and just about every year or so since, skipping 2022.) Not at all sure why this idea of writing at Pulp Speed sort of hits me right. I think because it flies in the face of all the myths. A writer has to have all myths and critical voice under control to even attempt Pulp Speed One. So this post might just make you angry…

Pulphouse Subscription Drive 2023…
Coming Next Tuesday!! Pulphouse Fiction Magazine is going monthly! That’s right, after a short break to let my eye heal enough so that I could read again, we are coming back stronger than ever. Monthly! And we need your help to get subscriptions as we do every year in our subscription drive Kickstarter Campaign. Plus we have all sorts of great books and workshops and even some great merchandise this time. And as normal for us, no matter what product you back, you will get a six month subscription with it. The titles of the two special workshops really fit Pulphouse Fiction Magazine. Known and Strange Things is one three…

How Writers Fail…
A New Writing Book By Kris… Just released… How Writers Fail… Analysis and Solutions by Kristine Kathryn Rusch. This a blunt, straight-forward book that might save your career or at least help you head off some really, really ugly bumps in the road. It is focused at indie writers. (If you are headed toward traditional publishing, you have already failed.) Here is the sales copy… “Everyone fails at times. Writers fail in predictable ways—ways both foreseeable and preventable. In this WMG Writer’s Guide, New York Times bestselling and award-winning author Kristine Kathryn Rusch addresses the pitfalls writers face and offers solutions to help them overcome those obstacles. Because the best writers push…

Valuation of IP
I Have Been Focused On IP Valuation… … A lot lately, especially when it comes to estates. (No, nothing wrong with me or Kris, just sort of waking up in this new indie reality.) You see, when I came out of traditional publishing, the value of my couple hundred short stories and few novels (all the rest were work-for-hire or media) was not enough to hurt anyheir who got it when I died, even with a simple will situation. So I didn’t give it much thought past putting all the basic estate stuff in place. Which we did. And updated it fairly regularly. Then one day I sort of started…

Coming Up With Titles
I Love Titles… Anyone who knows me knows I often start stories or novels with just a smashed-together bunch of half titles and fire up writing. But tonight I was coming up with Pulphouse Fiction Magazine anthology titles. Anthologies of stories from the pages of the magazine to use as stretch rewards for the new Pulphouse Fiction Magazine subscription drive Kickstarter we are putting together. Most of you know Pulphouse has been on a short break while I regained my eyesight. It is back, as much as it is coming back, so now Pulphouse can return. But with a nifty change. Pulphouse Fiction Magazine is going monthly. Yup, monthly, meaning…

Almost Forgot…
3:30 A.M. I was headed for bed when my little tired voice from writing and working on workshops said, “You didn’t do a blog.” Well, hell. So computer started back up, lights back on, here I am. Stupid streak. So only thing I can think to do at this point is just remind anyone who still might be interested that the sale goes through Sunday evening. Here is the information one last time… Repeated information again on the Workshop Sale… We made the 50% off sale cover any class, workshop, lifetime subscription, everything on WMG Teachable. Everything! The code to get 50% off is: Products Just hit purchase of anything…

Workshop Sale Extended to Sunday Evening…
Sale Extended to Sunday Evening Late… Well, interesting time here in the States to do a sale. So many people traveling, and with the holiday on Tuesday, they just went for the entire week. So got three different emails tonight asking us to extend the sale until Sunday, and we decided to do it. This sale was only a lark in the first place because we love the Product’s classes and wanted enough writers in the first run through to make it valuable down the road. So with the mug, we figured a sale would be fun. We never know when we will do a sale. Only when something strikes…
