    Got My Shots…

Double Flu and Regular Covid… Kris and I went late Friday evening to get our yearly shots. Arm a little sore, and I am moving slowly, and I feel like napping, but basically no real issues. We usually make time in early October, but been a tad busy this year. So finally got them done. Taking care of our health is really critical, no matter how much the world tosses at us. So yay!! Next stop for me on the health train is I have a regular doc appointment in early January to get the clearance to do the Las Vegas Rock and Roll Half Marathon in February. I see…

    Real Basic Trademark Quiz…

Just Fooling Around This Friday Night… Since we just launched the Bite-Sized Branding and Trademark class yesterday and have an early bird discount on it for the weekend, (See previous post) I thought I would ask a few basic trademark questions. These are very basic… Do you have to register a trademark to own and control it? What makes something a strong mark? What is the Lanham Act? Basic Differences between Copyright and Trademark Registration? Did you get the answers right off the top of your head? Why would writers worry about trademark and branding? Well, simply put, to make a lot more money. Sure you license your work to…

    Bite-Sized Branding and Trademark

EVERY MONDAY MORNING FOR 2025 Last few years we have done Motivational Mondays (twice), Creative Survival, and Bite-Sized Copyright with the structure of four videos every Monday morning for the entire year. So for 2025, we are going ahead and really doing a challenge with BITE-SIZED BRANDING AND TRADEMARK. Four videos every Monday morning for the entire year to make branding and trademark for writers easy and painless to learn. Of all the classes we teach, this might make you the most money in both the short run and long term. This will not be legal advice on trademark in any way, but will be advice from one writer to…

    Advice From A Fiction Editor

Might Work As A Title… I think I will call this series “Advice from a Fiction Editor.” I have about ten more stories to read that are from workshops as assignments, then I will change out hats and read as the Pulphouse Fiction Magazine editor. Pulphouse is not open for submissions and never will be, so what am I reading? Backers of the Pulphouse Kickstarter in July get monthly prompts and using the prompt can send me a story for consideration. I did this last year and I had a blast and I bought some stories. Great fun. And what is interesting is that the writers are actually (because they…

    Last Day of Workshop Sale…

Until April… So it is fine to stock up on a few workshops and take them when you have time. Or get a challenge and start in January. Let me Repeat a Few Things… Kris told me a few nights ago that she had sent out the first assignments to her Kris Reading Program where she gives assignments to a few writers and they have two weeks to write her a story. Then she gives them feedback and a new assignment. She really limited the participants to start, but she said that she thinks she is really going to enjoy doing it and wouldn’t mind one or two more writers…

    I Will Be So Happy….

To Not Have To Talk Here About Workshop Sales… At least until next April. (If then.) I got so many other things I would rather talk about here. Like the stories I am reading and other learning stuff. Fun stuff. To be honest, even though the sales are a great deal for writers to keep learning, I am bored pushing them. Maybe that will change by April. So this 60% off workshop sale, the last sale until at least April, is done late Monday. Information in the last few posts. Now tonight I am going back to putting finishing touches on the fantastic WMG Holiday Spectacular 2024 Kickstarter that is…

    QUESTION… What’s In It??

Got That Question Three Times… About what was in the Everything Lifetime Subscription. Seems my answer of “Everything on WMG Teachable” was not enough of an answer. So for kicks and giggles here on this Friday night, I thought I would answer the question a little better so you can see why I say it is the best deal to really learn writing and publishing. To be honest, I have never done this so I am kind of curious how much is on sale at the moment. (grin) So here I go… No doubt I will miss something. All the misc classes… Things like Licensing, 50 Years…, and so on.…

    Steven Mohan, Jr.

Great Writer and Person… I met Steven Mohan Jr. over twenty years ago when he came to one of our master classes.  He was a former officer in the Navy and was hungry to learn writing. And learn he did, selling stories regularly from that point forward. He ended up writing a lot of military science fiction under his name and another, including novels for Battle Tech. And he just kept on learning, working to be better. He attended a lot of our in-person classes over the years. Steve was also one of the nicest and funniest humans I have ever had the pleasure to meet. Brilliant and clear of…
