Challenge,  On Writing,  publishing

1/3/17 Daily

Date Not Sinking In Yet…

Still getting settled into the new year. But I really like my new system of tracking over on the right of the page the running days and the writing amounts per day.

And by having to pay attention to what I learned each day, that seems to be giving me some focus as well. So with the adjustment yesterday, I have a hunch this new system will really work for me.

With all the workshop stuff today and me shifting my schedule back slightly, I only managed 1,200 words on the novel, but I also got five miles on the exercise.

What I Learned Today (Streak Day 3)

Right out of the gate this morning was the news that Kobo bought (or became a major partner in) Tolino. I believe Kobo is going to be a power player in books around the world and this is just another example of that building they are doing toward that goal. So that was a fun thing today.

I have a friend investigating information about some tax provisions for health insurance premiums in corporations that was just passed in a new law. I will be talking with my accountant as well about it and will report back when I am certain.

And by trying to explain some craft tricks for the endings workshop, I got a deeper understanding of some of the elements of craft and endings of stories. (Week three for those of you taking the workshop.)

So a fun day today.

The German Telekom sold its share of tolino to Rakuten. The Telekom held the technical part of the tolino alliance, developing their own e-readers (and organizing the cloud space). This will get interesting, because the tolino e-readers, in theory, compete with the Kobo devices. But the tolino readers meanwhile , in Germany, seem to sell as well as the Kindle devices, whilst Kobo is barely to find. And Kobo as e-book-platform found no partner in Germany, whereas it has some in other European countries, who sell Kobo e-books.
