Something For Myself Tonight…
I Signed Up for a New Edition of InDesign…
This new computer screen I have is so small compared to my older ones, I had some trouble with small print and my eyes, but I made it work. More than likely at some point I will need a Mac mini and two HUGE screens to really make this easier.
So I opened up a Smith’s Monthly cover template, which opened just fine with the new program.
Then in just under one hour (with only three Google searches to find how to do something and two of them were wrong), I built the cover and spine and back cover for Issue #68 which I hope to have out in November.
I decided to use the collection ACTION which is a Cold Poker Gang collection that had never been in Smith’s Monthly.
I got the art from the collection, picked four brand new stories for the issue, and got it done.
No need to point out my mistakes. I am sure there are a few. (I just noticed on the back cover I said Action was a 6 story collection, but it is a ten story collection. Will fix that if this actually becomes the issue #68.)
So below is my new cover, which might change a few times between now and November because I might put in a novel instead. But for less than one hour, I think it came out pretty good. It’s a restart.
