Quarter of the Year Gone!!
Just Poof!! All History Now…
Did you get the writing and publishing done you wanted to get done?
Did you learn the things you wanted to learn?
Are you on pace to make your goal or do you need to reset?
I love resetting. Do it most every year, but this year, weirdly enough, I am about where I expected and hoped to be.
And I have beat back or down almost all learning curves I had listed last fall. One more big one to go and two not so big, and with luck, I will be up to speed.
My goal starting back in the middle of November was to get through all the learning curves and by the middle of November in 2026 publish 75 major books. Most will be collections of my short stories I am trying to round up so I can get back to writing next year at full pace.
So for me 1/3 of my year is gone and I’m feeling good. I have about 15 books in process. Might just make the challenge.
So what learning curves have I beat back in one level or another? I knew how to do many of these things, but when Steph left, I wanted to learn at a deeper level all of it.
InDesign I have totally back under control so I can quickly do branded covers and lay out Smith’s Monthly.
With the incredible help of Chris York as we learn together, Kickstarter fulfillment with spreadsheets. Got some questions, but just about got it.
Shopify is a learning curve I have just got to after finishing Anthropic and got a hunch it will be pretty easy. Just got a lot of clean-up to do. So that one is ongoing for a time. I have no deadline on it, but would like to be down to two stores by May.
Vellum is critical for me to get fast at, since I have so many collections to do. I do not see picking up speed there to be a problem either.
And organization and listings is something I did a billion times before I hired people to do it. Got a hunch it won’t be difficult.
I still have three writing books to update and then start fulfilling that campaign. And Kris is close to finishing up the three science fiction updates and books and also has the three mystery books in the coming campaign almost done while I am building that campaign. It will launch of April 7th. First new mystery novel that Kris has written in ten years. It is amazingly good. Take a look at the promotions page and click to have Kickstarter remind you when it launches.
