New Issues of Smith’s Monthly
Subscribers and Patreon Supporters Got Three Issues…
That’s right, in the last week three issues of Smith’s Monthly went out. As many of you know, I’ve been working to catch up with the date on the issues. I was hoping to be caught up by the 50th issue, but not it might take a little longer.
And coming shortly, meaning a few weeks, two more issues will go out.
Issues #41-43 went out to subscribers and Patreon supporters over the last week. That’s a bunch of reading. (grin) And there was a new Thunder Mountain novel in the group.
In the coming Pulphouse Fiction Magazine kickstarter drive starting Thursday, there will be a chance to subscribe to both Pulphouse and Smith’s Monthly combined, as well as the two Fiction River series.
Want to see the covers for the first year (they might change some, but are pretty set), go to
And yes, there will be some workshop and lecture rewards in the kickstarter. And just for the length of the kickstarter we will offer the Strengths workshop again with a subscription. So stay tuned and I will announce it all starting on Thursday afternoon or Friday morning, if all goes well.
One note, though. Any workshop credits you get in the kickstarter won’t be able to be used until November at the earliest. So if interested in the starting October workshops, you have to jump into those directly.
I can’t believe that after 21 years Pulphouse is coming back. How much fun is that?
THEY START ON SUNDAY…
As I have said over and over, only five people have signed up for the short story challenge so far. I expanded it and the novel challenge to eight writers, so still room in both challenges.
If interested in signing up, just write me. They are going to be great fun. Here are the details once again. Starts October 1st, WHICH IS SUNDAY!!
SHORT STORY Challenge:
— Write thirty short stories in 60 days. You can take the full time or you can write them in a month. Up to you.
— I will charge $600 to be your first reader. If you try the challenge, you get two online workshops of your choice, a $600 value. (In essence, I will read for free if you do the challenge.)
— If you feel the challenge is not working for you, I will offer you an off-ramp at various points and you can take it and get the two online workshops. So you can try this risk free.
— Write three novels between October 1st and January 15th. You can take the full time or you can write them quicker. Up to you.
— I will charge $600 to be your first reader. If you give this a try, you get two online workshops of your choice, a $600 value. (In essence, I will read for free if you do the challenge.)
— Novels can be any length over 30,000 words and at least half of the first one must be written during the time of the challenge.
— If you feel the challenge is not working for you, I will offer you an off-ramp and you can take it and get the two online workshops. I also will give you two online workshops if a life event comes up and you can’t finish.

I love those Pulphouse Fiction covers! I’ll be waiting for the Kickstarter to get a subscription. Love the cat one! Does that mean cat stories I hope?
Oh, yes. In fact, in the first year there is a stunning original cat story by Annie Reed coming. It will blow you away.
Oh wonderful! Can’t wait to see this magazine !
Fabulous covers! I’m looking forward to the Kickstarter.
Yay Pulphouse return!
