More Moving…
But Wow Are We Gaining On It!!
All shelves in the new office are now up. And they will hold a lot of books. A lot!! Most will remain empty until we bring the rest of the big office down in April.
Got Steph a wonderful new desk today, and got Kris a great desk. Both of those will be delivered on Friday. I am using my big desk that was in the old offices up north 7 years ago. I brought it down with me and it has been in storage all these years.
I still have about thirty boxes of author’s copies to unload up onto shelves and Steph has about 15 big boxes of WMG stuff from up north to unload. A lot of that will happen after the desks arrive.
Also the really fun find at a local furniture store is a great patio chair with foot stool and glass-top side table for Kris on the office deck. She plans on doing a lot of reading this winter (our best weather) and that patio is a fantastic place for her to sit with her feet up and read manuscripts.
So progress. More and more each day.
And even though it was almost a year ago that I fell at a 5K run while running far too fast, Kris and I are getting back on that horse and have a 5K scheduled for almost every weekend for the rest of the year, starting this weekend. Yes, I will be walking. I enjoy the runs, the exercise, the people, and so on. But I’m not stupid. (grin)

Hi Dean,
I was wondering if it’s all right to ask a question here.
I have a couple novels I wrote years ago (I was 17 at the time, the two novels were my third and fourth) that I took down after self publishing under my real name. In line with Heinlein’s Rule 4, I wanted to put them back out on the market, even if they don’t exactly fit my current brand. However, the writing has very little depth and isn’t up to my current quality at all. But I still think the story is good and worth getting out to readers.
Any advice? My current thinking is either release the books as is, even if they aren’t up to my current quality because readers will still enjoy it if the story is good. Or, shelve the books and re-draft from my memory of the idea.
To be honest, I’m sorta leaning towards the first, and I have a feeling you’ll advocate for that based on your advice over the years. Maybe I just need a little push in the back is all, not sure at the moment.
Thanks,

I keep my third-written book, published in 1987, out without changing a word because it is a good sign-post of my skill at that point in time. If you feel too uneasy put them under an open pen name, and then list them on your web site as “Early Novels.”
But get them back out.

Wow! It looks like I have some catching up to do. You sound excited, which makes me smile. I miss our writing relationship Dean! Still trying to launch the oldest … it’s like plowing a never ending field. You have to keep looking straight ahead while pushing forward something pretty heavy.

Shannon, no doubt you can do it and the writing and the publishing world will return as it does. Keep pushing!
