Meetings and a Day Off

Did Both Meetings for WMG and a Day Off…

Tough to have a day working and yet off, but Kris and I managed today. We headed into the valley after the WMG meeting and Kris spent time just sitting in a coffee shop reading while I went picking.

Ended up getting 30 or so children’s books for a quarter each for the store, twenty hardbacks for the store at $2 each, some fun toys and things for the store at 99 cents a pound, and maybe one real collectable. A 1940s or early 1950s swing style woman’s wool coat, only tag said Union Made.

I was looking through some bins of clothing for scarfs because we sell scarfs in the store. (I get them for 99 cents a pound and they are light, so when I find them I can get 30 scarfs for about a buck and we sell them for $5 each.) Didn’t find any, but ran across this vintage black coat. Spent two bucks on it as a risk. Might be something to toss, might be worth a hundred bucks. We shall see.

The fun of treasure hunting.

And yes, the four-novel challenge will start on Saturday. First book up is Tombstone Canyon: A Thunder Mountain Novel. Deadline to finish is Sunday, July 9th, but hope to finish before then. No clue what the other novels will be yet.

Dark Crimes Bundle

I want to remind everyone that I am in a fantastic bundle called Dark Crimes on

Dark Crimes Bundle has two anthologies and eight crime novels.

Folks, this is some great reading here.

For example, if you have never read any O’Neil De Noux, you are missing some fantastic stories set in New Orleans. O’Neil has been publishing mystery novels and stories for well over twenty years now and is one of the top writers in Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine.

The bundle is worth it for Fiction River, Year’s Best Mystery Stories, and O’Neil’s fantastic novel alone.

And one of my favorite Kris mystery novels that has gotten very little attention is Spree. Trust me, that is one twisted mystery.
