Kickstarter Friday
Some Fiction Campaigns That Are Worth Studying and Backing…
I do this every Friday, yes even tonight, Halloween, when I have a few campaigns I think are worth putting here. Three really great ones tonight.
I will not say much negative about a campaign. If there is too much or it is going to fail, I won’t post it here.
And for those wondering where I get off judging Kickstarter Campaigns by fiction writers, I have now done 56 of them, every one funded and made money. My first campaign was in the very early days of Kickstarter. But if yoyu are going to study campaigns that I have done, study the last year or so. I am continuing to learn.
And like some people browse and waste time on Facebook, I browse and waste time looking at campaigns on Kickstarter.
SOMETHING TO HELP YOUR CAMPAIGN…
I am doing a Kickstarter mentorship.
That’s right, one-on-one, I will help you build and launch a book kickstarter in the next three or four months (or whatever works for your timeline) that will fund, and get you readers for your books, then I will continue to help you with how to fulfill the campaign.
And then in the following six months I will help you with a second campaign. You will have two successful campaigns from this and have the confidence to keep doing more. (I will of course be around to answer questions.)
So afraid of doing a Kickstarter? Can’t pull the trigger? Or just want to do it right?
I have done 56 of them successfully and will work with you personally, one-on-one to help you launch a campaign that will fund. And then fulfill and launch a second one, fund, and fulfill.
Basically I will be your private Kickstarter instructor. I plan on learning a lot and having a blast, and helping you realize how much fun campaigns are as well.
Cost is $1,000 fee for my mentorship. Simply send the fee to PayPal and use the email dean@wmgpublishingstore.com. We can start with your first one any time you would like, Questions, just write me.

Holiday Hope by Ron Collins
Ron starts this off with the poem “When what on my hard drive did magically appear? A dozen great stories without any fear.”
And it goes from there. A really fun collection of varied holiday stories by one of the best short story writers working. And the campaign tone is light and fun and very personal. Ron puts himself throughout the campaign having fun, which is just flat perfect for a holiday campaign.
This campaign is stunningly well done and I buy Ron’s stories regularly for Pulphouse, so you can’t go wrong with the book. I would grab this one (I have already backed it) and enjoy the fantastic reading and then study how some campaigns can really have author voice.

Tinsleberry Gate: A Fantasy Steampunk Story Collection by R. S. Kellogg
Limited editions, maps, you name it, this campaign has it all. She has built maybe one of the most complete campaigns I have seen, so a bunch of data to sort through and wow can anyone studying this campaign learn a ton. There is not a question any backer might have that she has not already answered in the story. Very, very complete.
The campaign is doing really well and as with Ron Collin’s campaign, it funded quickly and is getting help from Kickstarter because of that. If you are a fan of fantasy mixed with steampunk, (I am and I backed it.) this would be a collection to grab. And a campaign to study for ideas.

ODYSSEY OF HOPE by Connor Whiteley
This is a great campaign for a new science fiction novella. Connor is very prolific and has done 17 campaigns before, so he knows how to put this together. And he has some really, really cool merch. And the art and images he uses are super, clearly science fiction. When I backed it, I was sure tempted by some of the merch, but went for the hardback instead.
You can also get a bunch of Connor’s other books in this. The campaign just launched so 19 days left, so back this one and kick him over his goal and then study this one. Very clear and straight forward. Looks like great science fiction to me.
