Kickstarter Friday
Some Fiction Campaigns That Are Worth Studying and Backing…
I do this every Friday when I have a few campaigns I think are worth putting here. I will not say much negative about a campaign. If there is too much or it is going to fail, I won’t post it here.
And for those wondering where I get off judging Kickstarter Campaigns by fiction writers, I have now done 56 of them, every one funded and made money. My first campaign was in the very early days of Kickstarter. But if yoyu are going to study campaigns that I have done, study the last year or so. I am continuing to learn.
And like some people browse and waste time on Facebook, I browse and waste time looking at campaigns on Kickstarter.
SOMETHING NEW BEFORE I START…
Since very few were interested in me helping them in a mentorshhip with getting their books selling better (still spots open, see yesterday’s post), I am going to add in a Kickstarter mentorship.
That’s right, one-on-one, I will help you build and launch a book kickstarter in the next three or four months that will fund, and get you readers for your books, then I will continue to help you with how to fulfill the campaign.
And then in the following six months I will help you with a second campaign. You will have two successful campaigns from this and have the confidence to keep doing more. (I will of course be around to answer questions.)
So afraid of doing a Kickstarter? Can’t pull the trigger? Or just want to do it right?
I have done 56 of them successfully and will work with you personally, one-on-one to help you launch a campaign that will fund. And then fulfill and launch a second one, fund, and fulfill.
Basically I will be your private Kickstarter instructor. I plan on learning a lot and having a blast, and helping you realize how much fun campaigns are as well.
Cost is $1,000 fee for my mentorship. Simply send the fee to PayPal and use the email dean@wmgpublishingstore.com. We can start with your first one any time you would like, Questions, just write me. And note, this fee will also include the Indie Writers Kickstarter Design class that is just starting on The WMG Writer Store. $500 value. (No, I will not discount my mentorship fee if you are already in the class. Sorry.)
Now To This Week’s Spotlighted Book Kickstarters

Pride & Provocateur: Austen-Inspired Exclusive Editions by Melissa Yi
Melissa writes in many genres and has had many stories in the mystery markets. But this campaign focuses on another aspect of her interests and is really well done. (Note, even though some of her art looks AI, she says it is not, just an artist style and she assured me in a letter it was not.)
This has lots and lots and lots of good stuff, maybe just a tad too much since the story is way too long, but I liked it a lot and backed it even though not my kind of story. But I like Melissa’s writing and will give it a shot. So this one is worth studying and backing. It has already funded.

The In-Between Omnibus: Complete Horror Series by Rebecca M. Senese
As with Melissa’s writing, I really enjoy Rebecca’s writing. Both Melissa and Rebecca are from Canada but don’t be afraid of a Canadian campaign. The US prices are shown. I already backed this and it has funded as well.
The art and the campaign are very clear and not too dark as some horror books and collections go. This is a well done campaign with clear images on what you would be getting. Quick and short and to the point. Worth studying and backing.

Evolutionary Witchcraft: 20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition by T. Thorn Coyle
I glanced at this when it first came in and was wonderfully surprised by Thorn’s layout of the story, the graphics, the rewards, and everything. And Thorn’s ask was $3,000 and it had funded very quickly.
I didn’t back it because not my kind of story, then Kris mentioned the campaign was NON-FICTION.
Wow, folks, study Thorn’s nonfiction campaign for a perfectly put-together fiction campaign. This is just so well done and if you are a fan of Thorn’s work or this topic, back this one. Don’t think you can go wrong.
