Kickstarter Friday
Some Fiction Campaigns That Are Worth Studying and Backing…
I do this every Friday when I have a few campaigns I think are worth putting here. I will not say much negative about a campaign. If there is too much or it is going to fail, I won’t post it here.
And for those wondering where I get off judging Kickstarter Campaigns by fiction writers, I have now done 55 of them, every one funded and made money. My first campaign was in the very early days of Kickstarter. But if yoyu are going to study campaigns that I have done, study the last year or so. I am continuing to learn.
And like some people browse and waste time on Facebook, I browse and waste time looking at campaigns on Kickstarter.
So onward with this week’s selections.

1101 Digital Stories in an Analog World: A New SF Collection by Ron Collins
This is for a 13 story collection of science fiction stories by bestselling writer Ron Collins. Ron, for a very long time, has been a regular contributor to Analog Magazine and his stories are always great. I publish him regularly as well in Pulphouse Fiction Magazine.
This is a really, really well-done campaign and it funded quickly, of course. You want to study this one and if you love great science fiction, back this one. Can’t go wrong with this campaign and enjoying Ron’s great stories.

DOGGIRL Anniversary Edition for Dog Lovers by Robin Brande
In a million years you would never know this is Robin’s first Kickstarter. This is totally professionally done and the story with all the GIF files is so amazing. Her rewards are great and everything works. Lots and lots of great color.
One thing that Robin also did really well is a focus on merch through the campaign. Dog-lovers merch with really great sayings and images.
This is one to study. Most writers can learn a lot from this one. And also, back this one for her great book and the other fun stuff. This one is a don’t miss. Back it and then read through the amazing story.

Overdue Dragons: Urban Fantasy Hardcover Special Edition by Emma Shelford
Another really well-done campaign by an experienced writer of fantasy and mystery. I love how the title of this campaign tells you exactly what it is about and the genre. Overdue Dragons is the name of the book, Urban Fantasy is the genre, Hardcover Special Edition is the focus of the campaign.
She makes it clear that nothing is AI art or writing in a section I think we should all adopt.
This is her 14th campaign and this is worth studying and backing if you like this kind of book.
