Kickstarter Friday

Some Campaigns I Think Are Worth Backing Or Studying Or Both!

I do this every Friday when I have a few campaigns I think are worth putting here.

I will not say much negative about a campaign. If there is too much or it is going to fail, I won’t post it here.

And for those wondering where I get off judging Kickstarter Campaigns by fiction writers, I have now done 58 of them, every one funded and made money. My first campaign was in the very early days of Kickstarter. But if yoy are going to study campaigns that I have done, study the last year or so. I am continuing to learn.

And like some people browse and waste time on Facebook, I browse and waste time looking at campaigns on Kickstarter.

So to this week’s campaigns…

The Remains: The Editor’s Cut Edition by Vincent Zandri

“WHEN THE SECRET TO YOUR LIFE OR DEATH IS BURIED INSIDE A PAINTING…”

Vincent Zandri is a New York Times bestselling writer who has been writing for some time and has won a bunch of awards, including a Thriller award and the Spur. This is intended to be a smaller campaign, with not a lot of art, talking about this special editor’s cut edition of a major book.

Vincent will give you a great read and this kind of campaign is different and will show you what can be done in a really focused manner. Worth backing for the read and studying for the look of a lot of text.

LES FANTÔMES DU FUTUR : 6 nouvelles — SF et fantastique by Fabien Delorme

If you read French, you are really going to want to grab this book. I have read a bunch of Fabien’s work in translation and he is a really great storyteller.

But also, this is a stunningly good small campaign, lots of art with book covers, a bunch of extras, so even if you can’t read French, take a look at this one. A book campaign done right all the way. Study it and back it if you read French.

That’s it for active campaigns. Julia Quinn has a fun one that is almost to a million and there are a few tricked-up and special editions of books that are doing fine, one with black light printing for no logical reason other than a trick edition. No point in talking about any of them.

But wow are there some great campaigns coming and I urge all of you to click on these links, take a look and hit the button to have Kickstarter let you know when they launch. It really does help the authors because if the author has a bunch of backers before launch, Kickstarter promotes more.

COMING SOON CAMPAIGNS…
