Kickstarter Friday
Three Fiction Campaign This Week That Are Worth Studying and Backing…
And yes, one of them is mine…
I do this every Friday when I have a few campaigns I think are worth putting here.
I will not say much negative about a campaign. If there is too much or it is going to fail, I won’t post it here.
And for those wondering where I get off judging Kickstarter Campaigns by fiction writers, I have now done 56 of them, every one funded and made money. My first campaign was in the very early days of Kickstarter. But if yoy are going to study campaigns that I have done, study the last year or so. I am continuing to learn.
And like some people browse and waste time on Facebook, I browse and waste time looking at campaigns on Kickstarter.
SOMETHING TO HELP YOUR CAMPAIGN…
I am doing a Kickstarter mentorship.
That’s right, one-on-one, I will help you build and launch a book kickstarter in the next three or four months (or whatever works for your timeline) that will fund, and get you readers for your books, then I will continue to help you with how to fulfill the campaign.
Fear stopping you. Or just not getting around to it. I can be the engine and deadlines that get you going and you can start any time in the new year with any project.
And then in the following six months I will help you with a second campaign. You will have two successful campaigns from this and have the confidence to keep doing more. (I will of course be around to answer questions.)
So afraid of doing a Kickstarter? Can’t pull the trigger? Or just want to do it right?
I have done 56 of them successfully and will work with you personally, one-on-one to help you launch a campaign that will fund. And then fulfill and launch a second one, fund, and fulfill.
Basically I will be your private Kickstarter instructor. I plan on learning a lot and having a blast, and helping you realize how much fun campaigns are as well.
Cost is $1,000 fee for my mentorship. Simply send the fee to PayPal and use the email dean@wmgpublishingstore.com. We can start with your first one any time you would like, and at this point, we can slowly put it together to be ready for next year. Questions, just write me.
Now To This Week’s Spotlighted Book Kickstarters…

Hell’s Place: MAKE 100 by Connor Whiteley
Connor is a very prolific author who has done a number of successful small kickstarters. This one is five books full of a hundred of his stories in a series. Pretty amazing feat of writing.
The art is good and the covers are good for the dark genre he is working in with these, and branded well. Plus he has some of his other books available. It has funded. So if you back it, you will get the books. Really worth a look if you like dark fiction.

Effective Public Speaking by Johanna Rothman
Johanna is a very talented and well-published fiction writer, but her main focus in life for the last 30 years has been a consultant. And she has written this amazing book abut public speaking that even though it is nonfiction, I needed to put it here. Trust me, folks, Johanna knows what she is talking about and this book is well worth getting. And the campaign is well worth looking at as well to study.

DETECTIVES COLLIDE: A Make 100 Kickstarter by Dean Wesley Smith
Okay, time to put my project where my mouth is. This is a five book set of 100 Detective stories, 50 by Kristine Kathryn Rusch and 50 by me. 10 stories each per volume and these are large books because Kris writes a lot of detective novellas.
We have done five of these Collides sets before this one and all of them are available as awards.
We got a “Project We Love” designation from Kickstarter before we launched and we funded in just over an hour and have hit two stretch goals already, so it is doing well. We also add in two special workshops that can only be gotten through the campaign. So one to study and if you have questions, feel free to ask me. This is my 57th campaign, all have funded.
