Some Fiction Campaigns That Are Worth Studying and Backing…

I do this every Friday when I have a few campaigns I think are worth putting here. Tonight three campaigns.

I will not say much negative about a campaign. If there is too much or it is going to fail, I won’t post it here.

And for those wondering where I get off judging Kickstarter Campaigns by fiction writers, I have now done 59 of them, every one funded and made money. My first campaign was in the very early days of Kickstarter. But if yoyu are going to study campaigns that I have done, study the last year or so. I am continuing to learn.

And like some people browse and waste time on Facebook, I browse and waste time looking at campaigns on Kickstarter.

SOMETHING TO HELP YOUR CAMPAIGN…

I am doing a Kickstarter mentorship.

That’s right, one-on-one, I will help you build and launch a book kickstarter in the next three or four months (or whatever works for your timeline) that will fund, and get you readers for your books, then I will continue to help you with how to fulfill the campaign.

Fear stopping you. Or just not getting around to it. I can be the engine and deadlines that get you going and you can start any time with any project.

And then in the following six months I will help you with a second campaign. You will have two successful campaigns from this and have the confidence to keep doing more. (I will of course be around to answer questions.)

So afraid of doing a Kickstarter? Can’t pull the trigger? Or just want to do it right?

I have done 59 of them successfully and will work with you personally, one-on-one to help you launch a campaign that will fund. And then fulfill and launch a second one, fund, and fulfill.

Basically I will be your private Kickstarter instructor. I plan on learning a lot and having a blast, and helping you realize how much fun campaigns are as well.

Cost is $1,000 fee for my mentorship. Simply send the fee to PayPal and use the email dean@wmgpublishingstore.com.  We can start with your first one any time you would like, even next year. Questions, just write me.

OUT OF ASHES: Riveting Cozy Suspenseful Romance by Kathryn Kaleigh

Kathryn has done over forty successful small campaigns and I have backed most of them. Her writing is stunning, her stories great, and her plots always interesting.  As soon as the mass of romance readers figure out who she is and how to get her books, they will be in for a treat.

Study this one for how to do a really nice, very clear campaign. And back it. Not that many days left. You will be glad you did.

The King in Yellow by Robert W. Chambers

Yes, Chambers has been dead for over a hundred years and The King In Yellow came out in the first edition in the 1890s or so and has long, long been in the public domain.

Yet this press decided to do a limited and beautiful book edition from the very first edition. And wow, the artwork is stunning on this. And they know what they are doing in creating limited editions that collectors will treasure. Just read the award descriptions.

And the campaign is just perfect for something like this, focusing on the art and the beautiful editions and they are not cheap by a long ways. This campaign only has a few days left and is past $100,000. It is worth studying on how to do your own campaigns. Extremely well done.

The First Law: Signed & Personalized by Joe Abercrombie

This just launched and is going past one million shortly. Just a few thousand away.

Let me say that again. This just launched.

Joe is a major British epic fantasy writer and also a screenwriter. And unlike some major fantasy writers named George and Patrick, he actually finishes his series.

This is a campaign for special editions, a ton of them signed, and the art and books are flat beautiful. But note, those of you in the Kickstarter design class, the signed book plates for each signed book. They are beautiful, but they are book plates.

Worth studying just to see how a really major campaign is done in publishing. My gut sense this will top out around 2 million, mostly because they do not have enough of the limited signed expensive sets.

But what I find interesting is the prices for the kinds of books and sets of books they are offering are very reasonable. Unusual in this type of campaign.

Worth studying and if a major fan of Jo’s work, worth having these on your shelf.
