January Challenge Stories

Managed A Story Per Day For 31 Days…

I have some adjustments to make, such as starting earlier in the day. But very happy with going from zero to full speed on fiction.

101,280 consumable words. That’s on pace for about 1.2 million words this year. Not up to my average yet, but close and a lot of things in January cut into that word count, so we shall see how it works in February and March. Working to get back above 1.3 million words.

Here are the story titles for January…

Kris is reading story #17 tomorrow, so I have enough to start putting together the first collection next week. Did one cover already. Going to do a 10-story collection every two weeks.

Detective Crunch is a brand new series character for me, and I did 6 stories in his world. Those are fun and Kris likes the character.

Since Marble Grant Kickstarter is firing up on Tuesday, I had her on my mind and ended up doing 7 stories in her world. Some creepy, some fun.

I did two stories without a series connection.

I did three Thunder Mountain stories and got one novel start in that world.  And one Mary Jo Assassin story and got a novel start in her world as well. Two novel starts out of the 31. About what I thought might happen, so all good there.

I did two Poker Boy stories, one Cold Poker Gang story, and five Bryant Street stories.

All the stories started from titles off my title sheets. None of them were intentional series writing. Just put in a title and ended up writing in a series. Going to go out to our storage unit at some point this coming week and create some new title sheets. Just for fun.

So the Story Per Day Challenge got off to a pretty good start in January. I’m happy with it and will be adjusting to make the writing easier and not so time-crunched.

PULPHOUSE READING…

I am behind on my reading for Pulphouse stories and didn’t do any in January to make sure my creative voice with the stories of my own was back strong. It is, so will get reading on the stories from the Pulphouse kickstarter and should have those done by the end of February.
