I Made It…

Not Pretty or In Good Time…

But once again this year I finished the Vegas Strong 5K. I had great plans to be in shape, lose weight, and so on over the summer to get ready for this official start of the fall here in Vegas. They really were great plans. Honest.

Did not one thing. I am 20 pounds overweight and have not been walking any distance at all except on days we go to basketball games. But at those I eat like a 10-year-old kid.

So today was the day of the run (I am not allowed to run because of what happened two years ago when I ran that resulted in lots of Titanium in my body,)

I decided to just do the Nike commercial and “Just do it.”

So a 1-mile plus walk to the starting line, a 3-mile walk that got me the finisher’s medal, then a 1-mile plus walk home.

Just under six miles. I also went out the door of the condo at 7:30 am which is about five hours before I normally get up.  That was painful which resulted in four naps today.

The good thing about this torture? I know now exactly what I need to do to get back in shape for the Rock ‘n Roll in late February.

So increase the walking milage every day, decrease the calories, do other exercises to tighten up, and get focused. We have about ten more of these charity run/walks this fall, and will be using them as markers. I have a plan again. Now we shall see if I can keep it.
