Cleaning Up!
My Traditional Publishing Brag Shelves…
It is all getting boxed up and hauled to storage. Nine shelves filling about 12 filing boxes full of books and magazines that I published stuff in during my traditional publishing days. Sadly over the years, I didn’t keep it up very well, and would take a book out of it for one reason or another and not replace it or get the book back in the right spot.
And unlike Kris’s brag shelves where she kept everything in perfect order and also has one copy of all editions. Her brag shelves fill an entire room and her office.
We have another brag shelf downstairs in which we have one copy of every edition of every book we published at Pulphouse Publishing. Including the rare red leathers that only had ten copies and were given to the staff and a few backers. Those are not moving to storage because that collection is the numbered #1 collection. 246 titles over 9 years. All with multiple states. The 12 volumes of the signed Pulphouse Hardback rare staff editions (red leather) is selling on eBay at the moment for $2,800. I can’t imagine what the red leather of the George Martin SSP is worth if one ever came up for sale.
Yeah, those are all bagged and staying in our place. It would take a very large cash offer for us to part with those. (grin)
But my traditional publishing days books are all going into storage. And while boxing them I found a copy of a magazine that has a story that Kris and I wrote together back in 1987.
Why am I clearing all that? Because I want room for all the really cool books of mine we are doing at WMG.
Sort of a way for me to really feel like I am starting fresh as I get back into the writing solidly. I will have room on the shelves for more new books. And that feels great!
I know, I know, I am just being silly and playing silly mind games, but this one is working for me. Might want to try changing up some physical setting stuff to give yourself a feeling of freshness for the new year. Never know what will work.
THE KRIS AND DEAN SHOW…
Starting on Tuesday, December 3rd and will run for eight weeks. Topic is PREPPING FOR 2025. Sign up at the WMG Writer Store.
The reason it is there instead of Teachable is because Kris and I will be doing a long video every week that is too heavy for Teachable. We will do that video together like we used to do the old Kris and Dean Shows at conventions. Then every week we will add four or so more videos on the week’s topic. Then the following week we will do a webinar that will be recorded if you can’t make the time. 8 weeks. Going to be fantastically fun.
It will only overlap the return of the Writer’s Block classes by a few weeks, so no issues there. (You can still jump into that, but you have to get both sessions. First session is almost all done and recorded, including the webinars. Second session starts January 7th and goes for two months. It seems to be a good class.
On Teachable we will be starting the BITE-SIZED BRANDING AND TRADEMARK on January 6th. Videos every Monday on the topics of Branding and Trademark. 4 quarters, 52 weeks of videos. That will make you more money over time than you can imagine. Jump into that one and remember that if you buy if for full price, you can also give a second one as a gift until the start of the year. So maybe two of you could go in together on that one.
The first three quarters of BITE-SIZED COPYRIGHT that we did in 2023 was given as stretch rewards for the Holiday Spectacular Kickstarter. See the updates if you are a backer to get the codes. And the 4th quarter is available for half price. Again the code is on the updates of the campaign for the backers to get the half price. And non-writers, remember if you backed the campaign you can give the workshops as gifts by sending them the code.
And one special holiday sale we are doing is the LIFETIME EVERYTHING SUBSCRIPTION. Normally it is $10,000 for the over $60,000 in workshops and classes on WMG Teachable, but right now it is $4,000. (Low as we can go.) Write me if interested. An amazing deal.
KRIS’S MOST RECENT AWARDS…
I finally got Kris to let me take some pictures of her with her most recent awards. She really treasures them, feels honored every time, but just does not like to shout about them.
But tonight I got her to show off her last three awards. For 2022 she won the Asimov’s Readers Choice Award for best novella of the year. In 2023 she won the Asimov’s Reader’s Choice Award for the best novelette of the year, plus had two different novellas in the top five.
And in 2023 she won the DERRINGER AWARD as well in mystery from the Short Fiction Mystery Society.
This is so cool!!! Well done, Kris! (you can congratulate her on Facebook and she will see it there.)
Pictures… First one is of the Derringer medal.
