    Fiction Branding… Part 16

More On Branding To… Four branding posts in a row.  I am sort of focused on it at the moment, more than ever. Great stuff happening coming out of the Licensing Expo last month, so that might be the reason. (grin) Two major areas of branding I did not talk about in the last few posts are “branding to setting” and “branding to character. Both are major items in helping both branding to readers and branding to other businesses. In fact, character can often be a major part of branding deal from business to business. But at the same time, setting and world in other business deals. For example, there…

    Branding… Part 15

What Do You Brand To?… I got that question a few days back and it took me a while to really think about it. My first reaction was to say you brand to genre or sub-genre. Then I realized that was just one focus of a brand to get readers, so was the answer that you brand to attract readers? Well, yes, sort of, at times, sure, nope, maybe… Turns out the question was a great question. And there is just not one answer to the question, other than… “It depends.” So let me run through just a few of the really, really basic answers. For all indie writers, we…

    A Five Year Problem… Branding Part 14

Careful on Trademarks… I know this is going to go way, way over most heads here, but I’m having fun so what the hey… I have always warned about registering trademarks unless you have one of a thousand good legal reasons to do it and are willing to pay a lawyer (you must have one who know what they are doing).  My warning is always on the back end, all the filing dates and such you cannot miss with a registered trademark. (Just as with copyright, registering trademark is optional. You don’t need registration to own and control copyright or trademark.) Copyright is the most overlooked area of IP by…

    Fiction Branding… Part 13

Branding Is Fun!! No clue if any of these branding posts go into any kind of order. I will figure that out down the road if I decide to do something with them. At the moment I am just learning and thinking. I realized a while back that branding a series was fun in a bunch of ways. Ways that hit me where I write and live, actually. I realized this when I found myself doing a “chart” of a brand on a series. (More like a rough spreadsheet.) Not anything for public consumption or a sales tool to a licensee. Just sort of me, for fun, keeping track of…

GHOST OF A CHANCE is Live!!!

This Is A Fun One… And short one. Only lasting nine days. Ghost of a Chance Kickstarter… I have put the video below, done by Kris… It is great fun!!! And very short. And here are the two special workshops in this one. I am going to have a blast with doing these. — FINDING YOUR READER This is a special three-week workshop on how to find the readers for the books you wrote. In essence, what this entire campaign is all about. This class will talk about branding, covers, interiors, and, of course sub-genres to help you find and market your books to the correct readers. For years I had…

Here We Go Again… New Kickstarter

After a Couple of Months Away… Tomorrow we launch at noon the GHOST OF A CHANCE Kickstarter Campaign. We are finally rebranding my GHOST OF A CHANCE books into something I can be proud of. Let me tell you, the previous covers sucked… And sold worse. I love these five books and these new covers and rebranding this as Romantasy has got me excited to write more of them. And I am really excited about the two special workshops included with this campaign. — FINDING YOUR READER This is a special three-week workshop on how to find the readers for the books you wrote. In essence, what this entire campaign is…

We Missed a Great Game Today…

Aces vs Liberty… Here in Vegas and we have season tickets, but the game started at noon, which meant me getting up around 9 am and leaving at 10 am. Middle of my night, so I had decided to not go and Kris decided to stay home as well and get the video for the new GHOST OF A CHANCE Kickstarter done. (she did and it is really nifty…) So by the time I made it downstairs, Kris had been watching the Aces’ game for a while and from what she said we had been down, then way up, then way down. I watched the last quarter as we could…

Lunches Tuesday at Noon!! Five of my Ghost of a Chance books. Really fun, with ghosts doing things you can’t really imagine ghosts doing. Mostly solving crimes and also falling in love. These are really fun books and with any reward you get all five. Also there are two really fun and special workshops with this campaign that you can only sign up for through the Kickstarter. Plus other fun stuff like we always do. So take a…

    Focus Bundle to Learn Characterization…

Again, By Writer Request… Got off my bundle schedule for another day and did a F0cus Bundle on Characterization and how to write great characters. I am sure having a good time grouping these classes and putting them in an order to be the best to learn. We did so many of these classes over a number of years and not in this order. We just weren’t that smart to them in order. (grin) If you have a lifetime subscription to the Workshops, you have most of this one already. Of course, Everything Subscriptions and Lifetime Workshop subscriptions are half price right now in this bundle sale. See below for…
