5K All Finished…
And I Feel Great…
Even though a bunch of pounds heavier than before my fall, I seem to be in much better shape.
Today was actually five miles because a mile to the start and a mile home from the finish. Just a tad over 5 miles.
About 4,500 runners for the 5K today and tomorrow there will be close to 30,000 on the Strip doing the 10K and half marathon. Today went really smooth. I did just under a twenty minute mile (great for walking) and I think there were about 40 or so guys my age out there and I finished toward the end of that bunch. (Most of them still running some.)
However, about the first mile mark I knew I was just sort of ambling along when I got passed by a large, heavy guy on crutches. I was impressed he was out there.
Tomorrow the key for me is starting. Like in life and writing, you have to show up and tomorrow I will show up. That is a win.
I will make a decision at the 10K turn around to go forward with the half or end with 10K. It will be a health decision checking in with myself on how I feel. Either way I win because against all odds these last few years, I am showing up.

It seems you and Kris had a really good time at the run, Dean. And you are absolutely right – showing up is key, it always is.
